Little note, Asymmetrical eyes are a thing so its fine to not draw the eyes that the same height. Be aware if your doing tho, personally i think eyes give a lot of character especially when not "perfect". nothing against the advice, but all blanket statements that include "Never" always have there exceptions. great vid tho

Drawing isn't a homogenous "one size fits all" deal, each style and genre of drawing is practically its own discipline with its own set of rules and techniques. Anime, Western, Cartoon, Animation, Illustration, Portrait, etc. all have their own unique quirks, shortcuts, even languages to describe the different concepts and techniques within their own styles, and switching from one to another takes time to relearn and adapt to, somewhat like training for and playing a particular sport or musical instrument most of your life then learning a new one.

one helpful way to get your eyes to look right from perspective: draw sideways triangles with a curved side line facing in the direction you want your eye to face, and then from there go and fill in the rest of the details. Eventually you can stop relying on that but knowing where the corners of the eyes are and where they "open up" will help a lot! On a face, they'll look vaguely like this: |> . > |

One thing that can cause the incorrect heights is just staring at the drawing for too long (along with other issues in a drawing, like skewing) So while sketching, you can: - Take a break for 15 or more minute and come back, look at other things, maybe do some eye strain reduction stuff while you're at it (like looking at something in the far distance for a few seconds or eye exercises), whatever it is just not staring at that drawing - Flip the canvas/sketch - Make sure to zoom out all the way - If applicable, ask a friend you trust to be honest if they notice anything off. Having something like that pointed out by someone else can make it suddenly obvious - Look up a reference if you didn't already have one, or even roughly re sketch whatever looks off I hope one or more of these tips helps!

Great video. The piranha lips will probably never leave my brain. But, I did want to say that the head, like anything else, can be mapped with parallel lines that recede to the same vanishing point. So technically the far eye is smaller in height! But this will probably only be noticeable if the camera is right up against the face your drawing, otherwise not changing the height is solid beginner-proof advice to get your "other eye" where it needs to be.
