Just caught this video and I am so grateful! I definitely know NOTHING about chatters. Your analogy on women vs men with colors CRACKED me up! I'm telling my spouse "The colors don't matter, until they MATTER, sir!"
You are the perfect person to find if you learning about bass fishing. Like.. I feel more confident after listening to you.

Been a cat fish and rock fisherman all my life… you got me catching more largemouth than I ever have!! you are the man please keep making more videos!
You, Stefan and Icanelli make the best videos
I always come back to your videos after going down a “rabbit hole”. I’m so glad we have you to give me/us a reality check. Love your honesty sir.
B. Latt thank you for sharing your tips with everyday anglers who want to learn. I appreciate the way you talk in a way that beginning anglers can understand.
Good view with the difference the way women and men look at colors
Thanks B-Lat… I’ve got Asperger’s and get really obsessed over tackle. You’re videos always seem to give me permission to boil things down and keep it simple and just fish.
Excellent! Perfect timing, starting to stock up for the spring and wanted to try throwing chatterbaits more. Watched my son catch fish on them so you know I gotta try
We have been making fishing more complicated since ancient fishermen tied a feather to a bone hook with a chunk of meat. Your point is well taken. Fishing in the dark, requires a lot of water displacement from your lure so the fish can feel it. We fish brown trout at night with any big streamer that pushes through the water. Great video!!
Thank you for sharing this video. As someone who cannot seem to catch a fish with a chatterbait, I thank you. This gives me good advice to hopefully catch my first chatterbait fish this season.

The chatterbait is one of my all time favorite baits that can be fished year around.
Simple advice that I have used for years, a light color and a dark color, and that applies for most of my baits.

I have a weird rule of thumb: Either match the hatch exactly (Storm LiveEye swim baits are gold) or throw something whacky like a Houston Legend spinner or a rainbow buzz bait. I haven't had much luck in between, but the "realistic" lures fool the picky ones, and the "goofy" lures slam the hungry ones.
Thank you so much for making this simple!!!!!!!
I’ve never rigged a paddle tail plastic like you did, with the tail pointing up toward the hook. I’ve seen so many rigged paddle tail swimbaits rigged tail down….I guess either way is effective! I also remember you telling us on a previous chatterbait instructional about taking the skirt off and just rigging a trailer on your chatterbait…that tip really worked well for me at one of my highly pressured lakes! 👍🏼

It doesn’t matter which way you rig it!
Great tips!
I fish my chatterbaits with the same trailers, for me the rage swimmer, zako and bass pro super shad produced well for me.
Okay Brain here it is I watched applied and caught a big one at a pond very cold 44 with wind. focused on controlled cast, a steady retrieve. Didn't care about trailer color just grabbed on and WOW Thanks
Great tips thanks BLat! I am thinking of using the chatter bait for fishing rivers for smallies especially during high water when the fish are scattered. I’m very interested in the MiniMax one for this application.
You need a television show! Thanks for all the helpful tips

9:32 fishing 101 here - never forget this for almost ALL techniques and situations. Can't tell you how many times slowing down has caught me a ton of fish. The irony being that ill be surrounded by people not catching, and I am catching over and over, so everyone speeds up thinking "man how is he getting so many fish so fast" and they get anxious and in a hurry. Slowwwwwwwwwww Downnnnnnnnnnnnn. When i fish a Jig, i spend about 2 full minutes on a single cast.

I’ve had luck fishing Jackhammers like a “sometimes a jig” bait. 🤷♂️ Early in the spring I just let it fall near where I think they are (I am a bank angler). I just let it fall close to drain pipes and such. I imagine the bass coming over to investigate…then give it a pop up (3-6 vibration) and sometimes I get that bite.
Great video, thanks!

Great video bro!
Took your advice on Zman Chatterbaits last year and caught 5 bass. Promptly proceeded to order 8,000 of them 😂
Hey, Brian! I've never thrown a Chatterbait, but it seems like a mix of a spinner bait and a jig - more for poking the bottom and cover than waking near the surface. I usually just slow roll a spinner or pull out a swim bait with the bottom treble taken off (you only need the top hook, and it hangs up A LOT less), but I'm gonna have to pick up a couple chatter baits when I run to Bass Pro.

I'm going to try chatterbaits in Costa Rica for giant cichlids and in the saltwater for snook, snapper and rooster fish. I leave Monday. Can't wait.
Hahahaha I literally said oh man I like using a goat trailer, immediately before you said you don't get to use that 😂😂😂😂. Appreciate ya homie and good luck down here in Florida this weekend. Get emmmmmm💪💪💪💪
Geezzz dont be giving out that secret underrated Crosseyez lol
Good stuff! Thanks Brian. All those videos with pros trimming and modifying them turned me off to them. I'll try one next week!
You are on fire boss!
I gotta try slower now! I’ve been throwing on a 8:1 so I could burn it. It’s been successful, but I’m always willing to try something new.
Crosseyez with a minnowz or goat. Can’t be beat and can be thrown pretty much anywhere.
Flounder love cb’s so do reds
I was like what? Then I was like, this Ole boy may know what he's talking about! I will sub then when the bass bite I will start liking, you sir have the gift of gab!

Project z chatterbaits kick off fast. Super fast. I fish braid though yo young 99 oercent of tine with a zako trailer. They srmtart up faster with braid and I'm only giving them short hops. Need the quick a tion. Moving so slow I'm not gonna take it away from them because I'm using no stretch braid. Fishing it moving fast I wouldn't run braid. But that's not my thing.
Hey Brian, awesome video great content as usual what rod size and power do you recommend and what line size?
My buddy gave me one last year. It caught nothing but 3+ pounders when I threw it. I went to having zero confidence to having it on everytime I went out! Steady slow reel with random pops did the trick majority of the time
lol blacking out the humminbird logo has me lmfao 0:01

That looks like my fishing spot on the Potomac.
What about for blue gill imitations? That seems to be a primary target for bass in my area. Still use the green and just use a bluegill flash trailer? Thanks for the tips?
Got pretty comfortable throwing out a chatterbait last year, especially pre spawn. Why leave out the flat bodied trailers like the rage bug? When I’m fishing wood I don’t get hung up nearly as much with a rage bug on
Ok that next mission
I got to tell you that red z-man ChatterBait I've been hammering them on that

Did you rig the paddle tail upside down? I’ve seen this done, just wondering if you do that also. I might have been mistaken.

This is good beginner chatterbait information. I do have a question though, when does weight matter? Thanks for de-cluttering our minds when it comes to chatterbait fishing.
@BrianLatimerFishing
Жыл бұрын
Good question! It matters when you can’t effectively present the bait.
Looks like spot remover and bluegill colors correct??
I like that, keep it simple, never mind all the "chatter", Haha.
What length and what string rod do you use
I’ve been seeing a lot of twin tails on the back people say it keeps it from rolling over
Hey brian ive been watching for a while. Just had a question could u help me find a tournament trail to follow im a freshman and havent fished a tournament yet but have been fishing since i was i dont even know. My school doesnt have a team and i dont know how to make one. I just need to start competing so i can catch up to the other anglers that have been fishin tournaments for years. Thx blat love the vids
Another great video. I bet everyone goes and gets a goat since u said not to. Lol
What line weight do you recommend fishing deep 15+, from bank and clear water?
The chatterbait is my go to but I haven’t used trailers too much on them. What weight do you use with a trailer?
Hey Bro. I caught my first bass today on your recommendation in this video. Brown chatterbait wit brown/green swim trailer. 2.57lb large mouth. Wish I could share the photos in this post. Thanks for the info.
I see you reeling that fast before the bite, I still have never caught a bass on the chatter bait. I dont know if it's the trailer, the speed 😅😂
Gunna try this and see if it changes my luck lol. Caught a few on chatterbaits and the biggest fish ive caught was on one, I think anyways lol. It slipped outta my hands before I could get it on a scale but easily my second biggest if not. I can't wait to move down south where I can actually get on the water this time of year to fish lol

A couple things. 1. Have you associated speed with seasons? That’s not a good idea 2. Speed is relative to many things. Ex. Would be reel ratio, speed of the boat, depth of the water. If I’m fishing in 1ft of water I have to maintain a faster speed to keep the bait out of the muck. If my trolling motor is on 8 I have to maintain a faster retrieve than I do at 4 to keep the bait moving at the same pace. If I’m using a 5:5:1 reel then I need to use a faster retrieve than I do with a 7:5:1 reel to keep the bait moving at the same speed.
Any recommendations on a good all around size to use?

You need them all
For me it's all white or black and blue. What's your preference? Chatterbaits or spinnerbaits? I know you can throw them both in the same places mostly.
@hanburgundy4317
Жыл бұрын
I haven't tried a chatter bait yet, but spinners are my all time go to lure - they always seem to work, and can be slow rolled near the bottom or burned and waked near the surface, and when fish bite, they choke em.
I rarely catch anything on chatterbaits. I’ve tried everything but I keep watching these videos trying to figure out what I’m missing.
@JsolosRR

Same, i cant catch anything on chatter baits or spinner baits, ive tried all the different retrieves. Dont know what im doing wrong
I tried to simplify my chatterbait fishing by reducing my colors to white, green pumpkin and black/blue. I still ended up with 15 chatterbaits..... Mini Max: 1/4 and 3/8oz Stealth Blade: 3/8oz Jackhammer: 3/8 and 1/2oz
I put a blue tail worm on my black and blue chatter bait about 4 to 5” could that work or is that dum to do ?
Thanks sir!! I fish Guntersville, pretty much exclusively. What is your POV on the "go to size" 3.8 or 1/2? As always Brian, get content. Thank you!

The difference between the color of my wife's makeup and the color of my bait is that my wife will always look good to me no matter what color she puts on but the fish might not want my bait!😉
When chatterbait fishing, is it always a constant reel or do you ever pause the retrieve like with a crankbait?
@BrianLatimerFishing

All the above. Watch me reeling in the chatterbait video listed in the description.
Everyons says use a slow reel but i dont run my reel like im beati g eggs. Always ran 7 speed reels and im used to the slow wind. I rel fast after im hooked up. Dont wanna race just to retrieve a lure. Whatever you are used to.
