After waiting over 3 years for the “honour” of buying one of their products , last week I visited my local Rolex AD and asked for them to delete my details . The Rolex business model is anti customer in my view, priority is given to flippers and “collectors”. It wouldn’t surprise me if ADs were directly feeding the grey market to maximise profit.

I don’t believe AD’s would risk their Rolex relationship to make a couple bucks on a Daytona. If an AD gets 1 or 2 panda Daytonas each year, it makes perfect sense to only offer it to their best customers. Furthermore there is more money for the AD if they offer it to top spenders then collecting 15k from shady flipping. That top customer buying the panda has spent much more at the boutique then the AD would get flipping it.

Subs don’t come on jubilee. Pepsi the jubilee is a premium. Batman/girl that has gone both ways but currently jubilee is higher. Hulk is discontinued and no longer in production but a great pick and very safe. In general watches aren’t investments, but supply will always be shorter than demand on those 3 models

Thank you for sharing prices and what Rolex models offer the best value in today's market. I find this to be very useful with the in demand watches featured in this video. One trend I have noticed from online dealers in the US is that box & papers are included, but NOT the warranty card. What is the reason for doing this from a dealer perspective? How does not having the warranty card included impact me reselling the watch? Would you hold back the warranty card when you sell your inventory?

I assume I can send the watch directly to the manufacturer and they know if the watch is under warranty. Plus, I assume the brand can trace the serial number to the AD if they wanted to do so. Hoping you could educate me on their angle for withholding the card.

@@thehonestwatchdealer You might be right. I couldn't think how this practice makes sense from a dealer's POV. Personally, unless the price is significantly less, I won't even consider buying from a dealer without the warranty card.

Tried on 126710GRNR at an AD and I liked better than BLNR. I also tried on 126518 with black counter rings and I liked better than the Pikachu. Those two on my buy list for the future.

It's a very dirty business. And I blame Rolex. Selling to all these shysters whose first call is to the grey market? Rolex have high levels of traceability and could control their ADs, if they wished. I wouldn't want to wear something on my wrist, that is a living sign of corruption and greed.

Sir, you are a proper gentleman. Your sincerity and down to earth advice in this crazy market are so very welcome. You are a great man. I have met a lot of people in my time and I truly believe that your wisdom is well and truly beyond your years. You were not just a pleasure to deal with over the telephone, turning down the sale .. not because you didn't want to sell me a watch, no. But you wanted me to be more happy about the sale than you. AD’s always tell you they take great steps to prevent watches going to flippers but you guys getting calls already from people wanting to sell them shows this is total bullshit. Not that this is any surprise!

It’s crazy to me that in this market people are expected to pay a penny over retail for a sub when Rolex is making a mountain of them. Just get on the list at multiple AD’s and you’ll get it and save thousands of dollars. Flippers need to stop taking people to the woodshed over these watches. Stop overpaying the 🤡’s going to AD’s to get a watch to flip. Grey market flippers are on the verge of killing their business as people will just stop paying these ridiculous prices and buy a super clone until they get their act together.

Crazy steel models are so desirable because its obviously cheaper than its tt or gold counterparts in the AD, thus making its demand so high it is much more expensive than those precious metal model.

@@thehonestwatchdealer I think the same. They clearly could sell 10x the amount they currently do. But then the prestige of the brand and desirability decreases as that happens. They have a difficult balancing act with supply/demand as then they become more mass market competing with Omega etc.

This "Honest watch dealer", really is an honest man, and the next Rolex or the next transaction I will do with him. The watch market is not dead, on the contrary it has stabilised, or is in the process of stabilising, but nevertheless you won't get any watches from AD as those days are long gone. I don't want the watch market to die, but I want to make a lot of money to be able to afford to buy whatever watch I want, so that for the future I have the money invested in the right things. People like this "Watch dealer" should be respected, they have a business like any other, and Rolex watches are for connoisseurs, not for anyone who doesn't understand the value of a Rolex over time. Ref Daytona, I was able to get my 116500 (white) after a significant spend with my AD. I like it, but I now find it underwhelming. Glad I got the 11 and not the 12 reference as I don’t think the white looks as good. Struggle to see why people pay £30k for it…. Interestingly, I got a 116500…. But I’m still not being offered 126519…. Go figure.

To be fair to Charlie, he did admit that he has been unsuccessful acquiring one at £14K so clearly the market is above this. I have only seen 2 actual examples on the market (non stock images). The rest are in the US. Simple demand and supply. They will sell for around £20K give or take 5%.

With Rolex massively increasing production and main news outlets reporting that Rolex and Patek prices are all heading south, I’d hold on to your wallets until these watches are readily available from your AD at retail or less. It will be next year but best to wait rather than give your money away. You’re only paying this much for a watch to impress your friends, anyway, so don’t pay over list as any respect you had will go when they realise how much of muppet you were to pay over the odds for a mass-produced item. Patience.

Talking like paying £1-3k over retail is a bargain! LOL 'No way am I paying more than the _already profiteering_ Rolex charge in the first place...you can do one! Btw I'm buying another house with cash at the moment. Affordability is not an issue...but principle is!
