We get tons of questions on heated wear and they can be hard to answer because each scenario is a bit different. We always come back to recommending a heated vest over a heated jacket due to proper fitment and also proper closeness to skin.

The new Milwaukee Axis vest they made the side pockets so you can put the battery and charger in your front pocket. Example if you are driving a non cab piece of equipment, you can stick it in the front. Or sitting in a hunting stand.

Agree on every point. I have the jacket and always felt that way that the heat source should be closer to the skin, wearing a sweat shirt under it insulates the body from the heat source a bit. None the less it works well because all that heat still contributes to your delta t, but could be improved. I also think the jacket is too heavy to be practical. I use it only when clearing snow in winter, with the snow blower etc

Love my Heated jacket I wear it with t shirt and a flannel and I still feel the heat from it and I was in 20 degree weather and got a little too warm but if you turn it on it’s high setting for 10 mins if your heated jacket is actually well insulated then you can turn the battery off and it will keep in the heat for at least an hour

I’m not as active as I used to be. Things like Chucker hunting on steep terrain, cross country skiing, mountain biking, etc. are all things of the past for me. Plowing snow in a non-heated UTV is where I might make use of a heated jacket and even then having a bulky and heavy battery in my pocket doesn’t sound very appealing. Using lightweight high-tech windproof breathable garments layered correctly may still be the way for me to go. Good video and I appreciate it. The jury is still out on the stuff for me and I may have to try some.

Best video I’ve seen on this matter so far. I have the m12 hoodie and I noticed first off that the heat was radiant and just not getting to me through my other hoodie. So I started wearing it close to my body and layering over it. It’s really just not made for that purpose though. I want the vessy now.

I have the tough shell jacket and I found it was a better jacket for taking a beating outside while working heating the pockets and belly better... however being 198cm they design them too short And without a Hood its a fail. Also have the heated hoodie. Far more effective in heating the core but it's not as good in the rain

IMHO, dewalt makes a hell of a heated jacket that is a bit more casual than Milwaukee. Both heat well. For work duty, you can't beat the new Milwaukee jackets. For everyday use outside work, I wear my Dewalt. The dewalt women's jackets are also nice for your girl.

@@WorkshopAddict The Milwaukee heated base layer runs off of the USB Lithium Batteries that Milwaukee uses in there USB Lighting. The battery pack zips in at the front/bottom edge and is not noticeable. The base layer shirt comes with two 3.0 ah batteries. Hope this helps. For hunting in cold weather, I wear a tight Tshirt then the base layer, and top it off with the camo Milwaukee heated softshell jacket. Most of the time I only need to turn on the jacket during the coldest times, or I'll just turn on the pockets to keep my hands warm. Also, Milwaukee does make heated gear specifically for women.

I've never found a need for heated gear even in -40 Canadian winters. If you're cold, you're just not moving around enough. Layer up. There's So much better fitting warm gear out there that don't need bulky batteries. The worst part of anything is trying to keep hands warm/maintain dexterity. No great solutions there.

Doing maintenance and servicing in the Alberta patch is nicer with the heated jacket. Sucks when you’re laying on your back/knees in the snow for 12-18 hours a day. Just that little bit of heat every now and then helps a good bit with morale on those tedious jobs where you can’t move a whole lot lol

Personally I’ve pretty well stopped wearing heated gear, especially for hunting. I hate the weight of my heated gear. And for the same money you can buy the fancy and tech-y hunting clothes. Getting good fitting, full range of motion, and just good insulation does much better for me, and I don’t have to worry about my jacket going dead or carrying even more weight with another battery. I still still wear my Milwaukee jacket on occasion while shoveling snow, or riding my motorcycle in cool weather. Other than that, I hate lugging around the weight of not just the battery, but the clothing itself. The heating elements and such nearly double the weight of a piece of clothing. Not ideal for the active person as it tires you out after wearing it all day.
