I've supercharged a 6 gen Camaro SS and now own a new ZL1. Supercharged SS is FASTER!! This is due to the LT1's higher compression.

Bruce Lee is correct. Very important differences. You WILL fight heat issues supercharging an SS. My opinion is to go N/A if you are shooting for 600hp on an SS. N/A runs cooler and is easier on those non forged pistons and especially easier on the connecting rods.

@BRUCE LEE yup, gonna need fuel upgrades past that. Im at 580 to the wheels with my pro charger. If I wanna go any higher I’d need the lt4 fuel kit and that ain’t cheap. Not even counting the forged internals
Good thing about ZL1 is you can add more boost without upgrading the internals.

@Boosted V8 Its not so much the blower that is the problem, its the fuel system. Stock blower can produce alot of power, but it gets hot as hell and you just straight up run out of fuel after a pulley and headers. If you want to put in a quality/reliable fuel system your looking at about 8-10k. Direct injection is EXPENSIVE to fuel.

How much was that bro & how many hp that you gained?
Yooo, seriously considered buying a Zl1. This the realest video if seen in comparison of the 2 cars. Decided to stick with SS 1le, Good stuff bro keep at it 💯💯💯
You have a good point to some of the items. However, the ZL1/LT4 platform is a full forged bottom end. This allows a lot more room without failure. So the price to pull the motor and rework all the internals to compare 🍎 to 🍎 is a big deal. The ZL1/1LE has more differences to be made to really be more different than the base model ZL1 to compare to the SS....a lot more. Keep up the good vids bro.
I put the Eaton SC on my 18SS1LE and yah your speaking real to the masses brother/ it’s beast mode!
I have a 2017 2SS Fifty edition just like the one you had, and although trading it in for a ZL1 sounded tempting few months ago.. I love this car so much that I decided to keep it and get most of the ZL1 goodies instead. So I went with full ZL1 suspension and front brakes, LT4 complete fuel system, a new LT4 supercharger (custom powdercoated in Daytona orange to match the car) + the blower kit with upgraded cooling and full bolt-ons. And now this is the absolut perfect camaro for me 🙌🏼. Ps: I was so heart broken when your Fifty got ruined.. but I’m excited for this new build!!

You have a good point about people who just want to go faster, but after that the ZL1 really is a better car especially if you dont want to spend all the time and work doing upgrades to an SS.
comes 650hp w blower already, full forged bottom end, magnetic ride suspension, nicer interior, etc etc etc and its book value is way up vs a customized SS will book out for half what you gotta try and resell it for. Bolt on only can add 125 so 775. I have one, love it

ZL1 is sooo much of a better platform than the SS. If you going auto the SS 10spd is NOT the as the 10spd in the ZL1. ZL1 has stronger engine internals and a stronger auto trans. Cant just slap a SC kit on an SS and call it a ZL1. Need fuel pumps, exhaust, etc... Limited to 600-650whp without building engine. ZL1 can make 900whp on the stovk block AND the trans can handle it.

While I agree with most of what you said, everything you just listed can be had in an SS for cheaper minus the 10L90. But a built a8 can often match performance and still be cheaper. With a little effort and less $$ an SS can easily match a ZL1 at any performance level. That doesn’t mean it takes anything away from what the Z is lol And I definitely never called an SS a ZL1 LOL

Just subscribed, I been looking for a camaro channel because I'm getting a ss 1le in about a year and a half and I'm going to pro charge it
So I just picked up a 17 ss and I want to do a turbocharger but it seems more expensive than a supercharger? Which do you like more anyways? Also in Cali I would want a carb legal kit and daily driven.
I feel you, but I NEEDS that 2022 ZL1.
Nah, let’s all be honest all Camaros are just INSANE 🔥
I hear ya bro my 2016 has been running Edelbrock supercharges since new from the 2300 and now the 2650 the last 3 years
I got a 2021 camaro ZL1 1LE and I am about to do a serious upgrade to mine. I not sure if I want to upgrade it to 850 or 1,000 horsepower. Also it's getting a serious Vinyl Wrap job done to it also plus a ceramic coating over the top of the vinyl wrap. I wanted the New corvette, but I wasn't gone to wait a year and a half to get one built. So I bought the ZL1.
I did everything but supercharge my 17 2SS M6 and had more into it then a new ZL1. I did all the labor. GM ZL1 wheels, brakes, fuel pump, side skirts front spoiler, E85, and American Racing Full exhaust w/ swain tech coated headers. The SS 1LE literally was announced the day after i bought my SS.
Yeah but are the regular SS’s internals, axles, drive shaft, etc ok to handle the supercharger?
I m thinking about getting a TVS2650R or upcoming version for my 2022 2ss 1le. I would like to upgrade to forged internals and the fuel system as well. 7 psi reliable boost close to 600 whp.
So you can daily drive a S/c , whippled ss ,?? I have. 2020 ss , looking to trade back in for a zl1 , everyone says u can daily it on low boost 7-8 psi , but I drive like crazy ass lol , but to build the engine and all that with kit like 10-15k?
I am looking to do 21 ss 1le with mid mount turbo set up from vengeance racing. I am still debating on the zl1 vs ss as well. However I like the idea off the ss because it is a more adorable starting point. To do a stage 4 package with vengeance is around 30k. Now that’s a lot of money to throw into a new car but if you pick up an ss 1le for low 40s high 30s now we are talking around 70k for an ss to make around 850whp for the price of a new zl1. I just want to do something different that I can’t find other people doing so doing a ss 1le twin turbo with a built motor I think would be cool and different. You definitely can’t beat the look of a zl1 or starting point though there either
You should have a million subs
alright looks like i found a good comment section lol. so i just got a 2014 SS i was thinking about a whipple charger and a good exhaust that pops when downshifting with paddles. any help?? pros and cons, anything.
I have a SS I don’t even know what supercharger or all I need to get . How much is a supercharger if you can help Me ?
I am heard the front seals on the LT 1 can get blown out with boost, is that true? Thank you.
why should the modded ss be faster than original zl1?
This also goes with other finances👌.
I’m with ya 100% bro, and it made sense to me too. Whippled my 18’ SS1LE. Touched up the tune and it dyno’d at 570 rwhp. All was cool for about 6,000 miles….one day pop. Front crank seal. Switched to a vented catch can. A month later cruising to get my Alky Control set up & tune. Pulled into gas station…smelled oil, and guess what? Front seal AGAIN! Now you are wondering, land ring, or piston issue? It’s all over the net. So yanked engine, did forged assembly, heads done, ARP head and main bolts, LT4 hi-side & injectors, completed rebuild & balanced. 500 miles later the new LS7 lifters had a failure. ( lots of notations on them too) Okay, so did Johnson lifters (should have done it the first time) 🥴 a BTR Stage 2 cam, pushrods, springs. ( done with the GM stuff) SPEC 2 clutch & flywheel…91 tune @ 634.9 rwhp. If I had bought a ZL1 from the get…I would have had a forged motor, and just had to pulley up and retune for a power level that would certainly break the LT1. Maybe I had some funky luck, but after the issues started making themselves known, others I found out got the same issues. So BE ADVISED GUYS. Stock ring gaps are real tight on LT1, paper thin front crank seal (use the LS3) and piston & ring issues are gonna show up more sooner than later. I love my ride now, and it is better than the stock ZL1, and definitely more durable, and prepped and clearanced for high boost should I choose. I’m at 9.5psi on 91 tune with decent power. I can nail it now without …uh oh, what now?? I would say go with a procharger, as the roots and twin screw PD blowers yield a high low end torque hit to the drive train, and it runs very close to what stock LT1 was designed to support….again, rods, pistons, detonation, clutch reliability issues are lurking. You may get away with it, but the LT4 is a much better platform for street roddin’. If you plunked down or are willing to put up over 7g for a blower set up…put some back up aside, cause you will need it! 🤓🤙🏽

Only two. 1. Find a *good* and *experienced* tuner. Reliability and safety will all come from tune. 2. Decide how you want your power delivered. That will help you decide brand, they’re all good quality. Fueling will limit you far before any of the sc’s are maxed out
I was thinking of trading in my ss1le for zl1 but now supercharger sounds like the way to go.
but why did you trade in your ss full tuned out for a zl1??
Yeah I was thinking the same thing I have the SS 1LE, the only thing is with the ZL1 is I can pass smog where as modding my 1LE I would not, I don't think any way , not really sure.
I think it depends on what you’re looking for. If you want the big hp numbers 700+ than you need the zl1. But a supercharged SS will be fast and fun for way less. So ZT are you selling you zl1 in the future and supercharging another SS?

Come he says ! 😃😂 this clown as commented on everything on this video , yet has no videos of his own backing what he drives . Or .... wants to drive . Wait maybe he’s to busy building a super fast Tesla killer SS
So I built a 2016 SS with a D1 procharger. You’re safe until about 650 wheel. If you want more then that, I’d say ZL1 is the way to go. That being said I now have a 2019 ZL1 1LE. The ZL1 1LE is just in a league of its own compared to the rest of the camaro due to the suspension and aerodynamics extremes. Literally never breaks loose and holds every turn I’ve ever taken. Something I couldn’t do in my SS. Just my experience but overall if you want over 650, I’d go with ZL1.
Why did you not use orange wrap, just curious.
It's all fun ! But it's like a 600cc bike vs 750 vs 1000 vs a hayabusa, ZX14R, or H2 the bigger platform is always better for more power, and less mods, but if you want to mod, why mod less when more is always better ?
What else do you need to get to add a super charger? Is there anything else that needs to be changed?

Your point in this video is money. LT4 is so easy to mod and can take on more upgrades without having heat issues. If you want to save money and its not that much because getting a pro charger, new bumper, ACS composite kits to look like a ZL1, you are going to save maybe 10k. And 10k is nothing because you save yourself all the trouble of doing all the tuning, hiring someone to do it, etc. ZL1 all the way baby!
he has some points but if you get a used SS you’ll have way more wiggle room to upgrade the engine internals for that supercharger. and still come out cheaper than buying a brand new SS

Pretty sure I was referring to SS 1LE. Good comment but listen a little closer.
yea supercharging a high compression car sounds like a great idea to me. Good long term strategy. So your max effort build will be a drivers race against a stock zl1. Just pulley and e85 the zl1 and you'll get smoke. Or keep the zl1 stock under full warranty versus your voided warranty max build. If you've been in the game long enough you know when you build it's not if it breaks it's when.
I think it depends, truth is I love my '17 SS and I don't need more car but I love the looks of the ZL1. I can do full bolt on with heads, cam, etc. for approx $15K. Problem is, once you mod a car, value drops and you won't get your money back. A ZL1 gives you more performance and you don't have to do anything to it, of course you can mod a zl1 but for those wanting more but also not wanting to modify the car, the zl1 makes more sense...assuming you really "need" more than an SS...which most don't.
I got a 2021 1le for 50k ,just get a used zle for around the same price if you feel that way , either way you gonna void the warranty but at least the zl1 was made too be supercharged and will be more reliable.
What about swapping a lt4 into an ss...maybe one day someone will do it, especially a 5th gen that would be insane
I'm sure that the insurance is cheaper too so that would be another reason
My SS is at 500 wheel hp without a cam or supercharger. Very easy to beat the ZL1 for much cheaper. I do wish I spent the money on the mag ride suspension. Heard good things about it, but I was struggling to find any left and stock on cars and prices were raising so bad.

Cheaper if you get a brand new Zl1 maybe. Bought my 19 Zl1 for 64k. I’m around 13k into it and making over 900Whp and and with a best of 8.92 in the 1/4. I too was contemplated on SS or Zl1. Than I realized that if I got a SS I would always be comparing my SS to the Zl1. Think I made the most reasonable decision I could’ve made. And I’m running WAY faster times for the money than if I bought a new 2SS 1LE (which is what I was looking at).
As an ower of a 2019 ZL1/1LE, it is not my daily driver. I would not recommend it as one either unless you love a very solid ride. Its my weekend, only if its a perfect day car, that sits in storage as a low mile investment car. My city just repaved all the roads, so its nice and smooth...just remember its a track car and most people that consider getting one need daily driving STREET cars. Good luck and many blessing...

Test drive to see for yourself...If you don't mind the claustrophobic Camaro interior, the ZL1 is a great platform for to build from. It puts the power down well, handles beautifully and doesn't take many mods to go fast. If you don't care about 1/4 mile times, I'd go manual for a much more involved and fun experience.
3:20 no the suspension from the zl1 1le is much stiffer and not good for all day driving than the zl1

And back in 2014 they had 2SS with full leather interior and alcantara wheel and shifter anyway. Love mine too
I don’t own a Cam but this was highly informative. Sounds like the ZL1 could be out together (with a better blower) from a lower level trim model.
Hey guys I got an idea , but whatever you can afford with out it being your only car ( clowns ) smile that you have a car and keep on keeping on
When I bought my 2017 Camaro 2SS brand new in 17’ I paid $42,000, sticker price was $50,000. I had the option to get a ZL1 for $55,000 brand new. A supercharger with install is $10k. It makes absolutely no sense to do that haha. The stock LT1 is at its limits with that. You’ll need forged internals to support more power and at that price your over what a Zl1 costs. Not to mention you’ll have to upgrade the wheels to support the power. Just get a ZL1. This only makes sense if you get some cheap high mileage SS for $30,000 or something.
When people say dont buy the car but they got it.. so y u didnt keep the ss

I be dead when people delete their comments.. the answer to that question is on the channel
I got mine over the ss, premium model ZL1 . Holds better resale value . Does look more aggressive . But I completely built mine anyways.

Same, 19 Zl1 with around 13k into it and making north of 900whp running high 8s in the 1/4. I don’t regret my decision at all. Rather have a Zl1 than an SS because I would have always compared my SS to the Z.
I still want a ZL1.
He’s saying the truth, if you want a ZL1 but don't want to drop the extra $$, Get an SS 1LE, I have a 2SS 1LE an it’s practically a ZL1 (interior wise mainly), without the supercharger and the slightly wider fender flares. Like ZT ZOOMING said, their are a small couple additions you can achieve by modding your SS and you'll have ZL1 power. Not to mention, the 2020 SS and up face look great. You won't go wrong with either one.
This is exactly what i wanna do.
Most people calculate the price difference from a SS to a Zl1. I think they forget that GM takes the SS engine as trade in. Way too expensive.
Illegal in sweden to put on a supercharger if not fitted original. Probably same in many countries and states. That is why you should get zl1 and fit another supercharger.
Warranty?
I understand your comparison brother but for being a zl1 owner for almost 3 years now. I saw both what they can do with mods and style difference. a true SS will forever be a true SS and a true ZL1 will never have the same concepts that can be shared even though they are the same platform. plus transforming an SS to a zl1 is just... COME ON MAN BE PROUD OF YOUR SS
Lol damn, but in the other video you said to sell the SS and upgrade to the ZL1! 😅😎

@@camirocz I was just giving him a hard time. Relax.
1le has no back camera for parkering
Camaro my dream that’s what I want my 1st car on the channel 😭😭
..........almost is not a ZL1. But go ahead hommie and get yours!
What are you talking about? People love the Zl1 for its transmission just as much as the engine. That 10 speed auto is faster to shift than a Zo6 auto.
