I can’t hard wire my mesh router, have you ever done a test with the power line adapters from one mesh to another( the ones with the power plug ins)? Is it about the same up/down speeds? Do mesh systems have worst pings then a dedicated single WiFi 7 router?

I haven’t played with power adapters other than the deco px50 which has it built in. I have tried MoCA 2.5 and that’s generally pretty good, not as good as Ethernet but pretty good assuming your coax and spitters are compatible and of high quality. I’ve reviewed the Asus MoCA

Sir, question for you. On the router how many SSIDs can you create? Does it have a separate IOT network? Thank you in advance.

You can do 3 SSIDs (main, guest, IoT). Plus you can isolate devices that you don’t trust. (I’m not counting different SSIDs for different bands)

Great review. I had purchased the ASUS XT9 after your review months ago. But I have a question? I’m supposed to have 1gig download. I’m running only 1 node, and the WiFi download is only 525’sh? I unplugged everything so no sharing. Still only 525 speed? Am I missing a setting?

Thanks, it depends what device you’re testing with. With Ethernet you should be able to get just about gigabit speeds. Most ISPs mean 940Mbps when they say Gigabit. WiFi devices are usually not as fast but should be able to get to 750 or 800 if you have a capable device like a Galaxy S23 Ultra or something similar

@@landpet I’ve speed tested from a PS5 and a home computer. Both show the 500 range using WIFI. I plug them straight in to the XT9 and it’s in the 950’s. I didn’t think ASUS would only send out 1/2 of stated download speeds 🤷🏻. Hence the reason I’m wondering if the XT9 is intentionally “throttling” the download speed.

@@bewa_ I thought that as well. I speed tested between the Cat7 and Cat 5E cables I have. With the GIG only download speed, there wasn’t a huge difference between them (20 mbs give or take). I’m running a new Arris S33 modem to the 1 ASUS XT9. Distance is 10ft away.

Great video , how did it perform with day to day use? Website requests , latency etc etc? And having lots of devices connected? It's very confusing because in the UK we have the same device it seems but all the 5 ports are 2.5gbps ?

@@landpet well the strange thing even more is our one is the be550 model too?! Lol that's I never quite understand. I've read previously that the be9300 is to link referring to the highest band the device is capable of in the (be) banding and the 9300 is the maximum theoretical speed that the device is capable of(combined speed of the bands or singular) and the be550 being the particular model of the device. Additionally your model supposedly the ports all run at 2.5gbps even they aren't all marked as that on the back.

I’m considering getting this router for EE’s new 1.6Gbps service in UK. The included router with this package only has gigabit Ethernet ports and WiFi 6 (not even 6E) which I think is crazy. What I want to be able to achieve though is maximum download speeds on my WiFi 6E devices (don’t own any WiFi 7 devices yet but I’d like to future proof as well). I’m hoping this router will be sufficient (£299)…the one I’m looking at is the BE9300 with 5 2.5Gbit ports, not the one with gigabit ports. I don’t want to spend upwards of £500 on the “premium” WiFi 7 routers that I’m guessing are targeted more towards 10Gbit speeds. I also read some reviews on Amazon that this router has a habit of randomly disconnecting. How’s your experience been long term?

The BE96U is better than this and can handle faster speeds but if you’re going wired and your internet speeds aren’t capped by this router, then this should do very well. It will also do well over WiFi as long as your machine is not far away from the router.

Unlike Asus's AiMesh standard, TP Link' mesh's standard doesn't let you connect their routers in a mesh system BY WIRE! 😢 And, by doing only in the repetear mode its mesh compatible routers - meaning a Wireless mesh connection - results in halving the speed to all the other secondary routers, compared in a wired mesh system(actually as access points).
