I think Syracuse's recent football spending spree including hiring a former UGa assistant coach says what Syracuse's decision is.

Very true and I hope that they can keep especially the athletic Director because he’s very intelligent and he does what has to be done and he worked at ESPN that I mean, obviously cannot hurt us in this present situation

Totally agree. Would the world be very different if Cuse, BC, and Miami stayed with the BE football schools. None of them have done anything since they went to the ACC and Cuse and BC football may be teetering on the edge. If the ACC explodes, neither of them have a new home. Personally, I think that the ACC will survive in some form, but at a huge economic disadvantage. Rutgers was mentioned, but RU won the realignment lottery landing in the B1G, with lousy sports (and no money). With the new B1G money and the academic advantages of being in the B1G, I expect RU to be in for the long run. (By the way, RU and UMd have just started getting serious money, since they have been paying back huge loans from the B1G.) The B1G claims that it is an academic conference that plays sports, but time will tell about Rutgers, Northwestern and maybe others. I do not for one minute think that the B1G will throw them out, but they may not be willing to play the money game. RU had three things, location, location and location. Because it is the only football school in an area of close to 25 million people, it picked up that invite and the money to come with it. RU allowed the networks to say that the B1G goes from NYC to Chicago to LA. Helped a lot in getting $7 to $8 billion contracts.

Towards the end of the interview, McPherson talked about the connection between dads and kids. This is the important thing many sports leagues are overlooking. The costs are out pricing many future fans from building that connection. The politics is turning people off. The money is turning people off. If you lose the next generation because mom/dad doesn't bring their kids to the game, you don't get that back.

Sec and big 10 better hope wealthy donors at these quote unquote schools.. call in a favor.. 45-50-60 mil is cool from tv... Better hope. Syracuse, Oklahoma st , Miami , Stanford northwestern doesn't give there respective schools 100 mil a year.. .. for nil.. or stadium upgrades.. just out of spite... all things fair

Professional and high level college sports are businesses. They're entertainment products. People will watch what they want to watch, and spend where they want to spend. People in general don't find most women's sports all that entertaining. Allocating funds and scholarships from sports which generate revenue to those which are black holes isn't a smart way to operate. That's not a good thing. It doesn't make sense to try to force it. If they want women's sports to be successful, expand, and generate more revenue, they need to make the product more entertaining. That may mean doing some things that feminists will consider distasteful. They need to ask themselves- Do they really want to earn the money, or do they want it to be given to them? You don't "deserve" anything just for playing a sport. You need to find a way to generate the revenue authentically.

I’ve long maintained that schools which cannot be competitive on their on resources, and need to be subsidized by others, should perhaps not be fielding football teams anyway. And seriously, what does a Div III school have in common with a P2 school? So how could one overarching organization support both sets of schools? This guy is so full it, it’s not even funny.

I am really tired of hearing people bringing up the education aspect of student athletes from a university that is consistently performing poorly or outright being non-competitive to just draw a check. The old amateurism model is dead and never ever coming back. When the ACC dissolves sometime later this year, I hope Boston College, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech get banished to the Group of Five as punishment for not being competitive in football.
