As someone who watch Joshiraku when it first aired, this insane boost in visibility is weirder and more left-field than anything Koji Kumeta could ever come up with. The show is "You must be this 日本人 to ride." in anime form.

The kanji here means "You must be Japanese or knows Japanese".

@@TailsGuy72 well if you'vs watched Joshiraku, it made a lot of fun references to Japanese history and culture, so you should be somewhat familiar of Japanese culture in order to enjoy it to the full extent.
