100% agree! I put it up there as some of the BEST work Don's EVER done and to this day it's still one of my all-time favorite albums. I've got it on vinyl, CD and mp3, and still listen to it, and Dokken in general, regularly. Actually I was just listening to the Hell To Pay album tonight.

Ive always been a Dokken fan. Your music carried me thru those tough 80~90s! Pushed me to play guitar and appreciate music a little more. In 1997 i had a car accident, I only fractured my left shoulder, but i cut the left ulnar nerve right off the spine. So my left arm was toast for several years, Oh they offered to amputate my arm too. Fuck That! It took me a good 5 yrs to gain actual hand movement, many more to be useful and play guitar again. I know it'll never be 100% but 80 % is good enough for me to play all my favorite Dokken songs. I hope you have a quick recovery and get use of your right arm again! Cant wait to hear the new music! Good speed Don!

I was born in '83 and dokken was my very first favorite band. Back in '89 I remember getting the cassette at my local drugstore for "under lock and key" and after that.. I didn't look back! I got tooth and nail, back for the attack, and then beast from the East, along with breaking the chains and then eventually the Don U.F.T.A. Beast from the East is one of the greatest live albums ever!.. love you Don.. keep fighting The good fight!👍🙏✌️

This is an Amazing interview. I always kinda hated Don because I blamed him for the break up of the original line up. I was a huge fan of George Lynch and I ASSUMED George was the primary writer of all that great music. I mean he was the LEAD guitarist. When he left I no longer enjoyed the music as much. But I will confess I have every album Dokken has released Including Dons solo album. But never had that first high I felt from the George Lynch Dokken line up. When George went to Lynch Mob I got that high again, so I ASSUMING George was the ring master. Don Dokken on the blackout album! Don Dokken a solo artist, and the only band member for breaking the chains WHAT! His face wrapped in chains on the album no way! Don Dokken wrote most of the music amazing. 4 way cut. Amazing interview. Don I am sorry for misjudging you! Thank you for this wonderful interview.

I think Dokken is such an amazing band and clearly, whether George or Reb or John Norum or Jon Levin.....they still sound like Dokken! I love most of Lynch Mob but they never established a sound. First 2 were amazing even with swap from Oni to Mason...but each CD was a new band, new sound, never capturing that initial magic. Serious respect for Don as a writer, producer, singer...thank you for it all!!!

First of all I just wanna clarify something here, the term hair band or hair metal didn't exist as a genre in the 80s. No one ever referred to any band in the 80s as a hairband. It was invented by some crappy music critic during the grunge era. Honestly, I don't really care what category of Rock or Metal Dokken is, I still like them.

I'm lightened up, however I would like it if everyone else is enlightened. The fact is if you're a fan of 80s rock/metal it's not doing those bands any favors referring to them as a hairband. In the 90s when we all first heard music critics (who by the way hated that style of music) use the term "hairband." Heavy Metal was at its lowest point, it was meant and used as a derogatory term. I can see why Don vocals went down. Smoking ruins most vocalists. I always liked dokken and the Don dokken era. I hope you get to feeling better Don i know about some of your health issues and its gotta be hard.

Not to belittle the health issues of Don, but this is what you get when you go visit Granddad, a litany of all his health issues. He has all these pictures to prove he and his friends are totally breaking down. Not sure what is worse? This or idiots like Motley Crue pretending to be 24 year olds still. I do like his stories about Lemmy

Both conservative and liberal policies are controversial depending on what side of the coin you call. Some fence sitters complain because it doesn’t matter who calls the shots…they won’t advocate them. You just can’t please everyone . Don is right to point out how things have changed significantly in just forty years.

@@shannonhenson609 So just like Dokken, Dio thought they were better than Poison. I like all the bands and I don't know how it " hurt" them ( dio) , it was their ego that was hurt. Megadeath still going strong, metallica still going strong. Did was always mediocre but still an good band but wanted to blame bands that were fresh with catchy songs and flashy stage set up. Where are the " Hair bands" today? yeah their still hanging on but a new era moved in.
