    Nice video, thank you for posting it! When you drop the Dominofix plate into the holes that were just drilled is there any lateral movement or it stays dead on? Did you try lining it up with your MFT? I was going to purchase the UJK Parf guide system and noticed this... I wonder if Dominofix is better. It is certainly much faster!

    Sergey Grunskiy there’s no movement at all. It’s a firm snap in place. I haven’t placed it on my mft yet but I ordered a set of long rail dogs so I can use them to do that with precision to check. I did take that template and put it in every possible position on the boards I did and it was a perfect fit no matter which direction I installed so I’m assuming very accurate. Only thing I did not do by the instructions was to place it on the corner without the dogs installed to route my first row. That’s how you’d need to do it to make an mft copy. I like the security of butting the dogs against the workpiece then clamping

    @@MillisConstruction Looks like the Taiga jig is also a dead end. I might have one made. I'd like one with a 4 x 4 pattern. Gonna be pricey though. The UJK Parf system looks interesting but a bit fussy. Too many steps. The DominoFix style is a matter of clamping it down and drilling. I used the top from my MFT table but that also is a 2-step process.

Festool makes a one-piece steel centering mandrel/cone, and other companies such as Bosch, DeWalt, Makita, and Milwaukee make their own two-piece steel pin + plastic cone for centering the bit in the base. I used my 3-1/4HP Makita RP2301FC Router to make my MFT table tops and the centering mandrel/cone device works well. www.toolnut.com/makita-rp2301fc-3-1-4-hp-plunge-router.html www.amazon.com/Festool-492187-Centering-Mandrel/dp/B002U5ZE8G/

  • @MillisConstruction

    @MillisConstruction

    4 жыл бұрын

    It is tighter once rotated. I’m not sure how much that affects it but it is for sure. Since it’s pretty much dead on tight normally, it doesn’t take much off to make it super tight. For woodworking though and the fact that even the wood moves all the time, I don’t think it’s enough to hurt normal accuracy unless you’re going for in the thousandths in which case a metal table may be needed.

  • @fisherfilmworks

    @fisherfilmworks

    4 жыл бұрын

    I was thinking that the jig moved a tiny bit when you pulled your clamp for the 4th hole. Obviously worked out fine but to avoid this, you could use a festool hole clamp in one of the first 3 holes you routed and crank it down before you remove the first clamp. Seems like it was only that first time you flipped it sideways that it was tight so I don’t think the template is off.
