It was May of 77. Mickey Spillane had moved to Woodside. He was my next door neighbor. My family heard him get buzzed on the intercom. He said “Ill be right down”. No gunshots were heard. Originally Mickey Featherstone got blamed & arrested for it! Found not guilty.

That was Eddie McGrath on the intercom. Flew up from retirement in FL to assist with the hit. Mike wouldn't have come down for just anybody he trusted Eddie.

I remember reading part of this in the book. Dominick Montiglio [ RIP] Could tell the story so well.

Roy Demeo was to reckless!! No wonder he ended up in the trunk of a car!!!

Yeah, Roy demeo was a crazy Stone cold killer Yes, but he is also supposedly very smart business Man, supposedly he pulled off something very rare for a mobster he was on the board of directors of a bank or something And supposedly like a good mobster, LOL He just scamed so much money from the bank that the bank had to shut down supposedly.

Definitely, they were crazy, one of the stories is after they killed someone, they cut the head off and they started showing the head off around the neighborhood in hell's kitchen just to send a message that they are not to be messed with crazy stuff.

My family helped Billy Beattie move up to the Catskills in the late 70's and I spent the summer with him. He taught me how to syphon gas real quick if I was ever in a pinch. I actually really liked him and he was the only guy I ever felt safe around. Some of the other guys were pretty f*ing scary, even when they were just talking about the weather...

It depends on what you call the Westies. They were separate gangs though and Spillane was basically retired and harmless by the time he died.

Mad Dog Sullivan a westie? He was a hitman out of Buffalo. Irish yeah and I think he said he got on okay with Coonan and Featherstone but was never a Westie.

Danny Grillo I'm sure owed Stein a ton of money. Stein was the odd man out, nobody on either side cared about him and he had killers who owed him money. He probably thought he was protected and had prestige amongst the Gambino's but really he was on his own, he wasn't tight with anybody. 👻☠

​@@jimthompson4068 correct, that is why Roy told Coonan, ( Don't say anything about the Spillane murder ) He's supposed to be just as surprised and mystified as to who would have done it. Admitting to being part of the murder would have resulted in sit-down with the Genovese family. They would want reparations for lost money and a continuous percentage of future earnings. Maybe even want the shooter killed as well. 🤔
