I was a cruz fan since his WEC days against Faber! This was one of the best fights i have ever watched. The speed they moved was crazy!!

Mighty Mouse fights really sloppy compared to his 2022 version. Dang, he's improved.

I mean not just that this was real early in his career so early the flyweight division hadn't even been introduced yet in the ufc so demetrious was fighting a weight class above and still putting a can o whoop ass on one of the most dominant bantemweight champions ever. I do agree tho he's much more disciplined nowadays

Mighty mouse was the aggressor and dished out greater damage, cruz had dominant takedowns and body control, close fight has to side with the champion but DJ held his own, so impressive when you look at the size difference. Wish his BJJ was at the level it is now and he could've gotten a submission

I’m not understanding the comments that DJ got manhandled. The fight went to five rounds moving at a fast pace throughout. And young DJ demonstrating his sharp skill in wrestling and grappling, especially his wrestling defense in the match, while also moving at different angles attacking Cruz. Now I’m not saying DJ should’ve won but this fight definitely made me think that he could’ve been a top contender in the featherweight division if the flyweight division didn’t exist.

You can tell that knee to the head really hurt DJ at the end of the fight.. Dom kinda let him off easy after landing that shot.

Cruz looks 2 weight classes bigger. He’s just as muscular if not more than dj and much taller. I still think it was a fairly even fight until the suplex. But yeah size is the difference maker here.

That fight DJ lost he improved and got better and became one of the UFC greatest champions.

DJ didn't take advantage of the height difference. He kept going to his knees for his shots when he could have had more thrust if he'd kept on his feet. He didn't really need to get so low to shoot because he's already shorter.

I thought it looked fairly even to me. Yes he took DJ down a bunch of times but he didn’t do any real damage it seemed. When they were on their feet DJ was in total control.

Which is pretty laughable if you know your history. Cruz's career began when bantamweight wasn't a thing. He was the midget fighting in lightweight, that's kind of why he invented his style to take the least possible damage. Second, MM basically competes in bantamweight today, the guys he's fighting in ONE would easily ve bantamweights in the UFC. Third, even during his peak, Cruz was never a weight bully. Guys like Faber, Jorgenson, Mizugaki, Bowles etc were around the same height.

Every mma media outlet scored it for Cruz with the majority scoring 50-45 and fan voting saw 90% of people scoring it for cruz. This is one of the highest percentages seen on fan scoring. I'm not sure if you're trolling or not though? Because this is one of the biggest 1-sided maulings I've seen
