Part 2: • Dominick Cicale on Sel...
--------
Former Bonanno mafia captain Dominick Cicale explains why the Genovese family has always been superior earners compared to other mafia families. Cicale attributes their success to their adherence to old-school traditions and maintaining a low profile. The Genovese family's modus operandi involves putting up numerous buffers to shield their true leaders, ensuring their operations remain clandestine. Cicale also shares insights from his upbringing in the Bronx, a neighborhood teeming with mafia affiliations, albeit without his knowing initially. His father and his uncle were Cicale's first exposures to the criminal world. Ironically, Cicale's close association with the Genovese family started by accident, through his father’s friend Ernie, who groomed him from a young age. Unlike other mafia families, the Genovese’s success lay in their traditional practices and strategic silence, a stark contrast highlighted by their infrequent media presence.

For the love of God someone needs to school Vlad that when he asks a question he needs to pay attention so he doesn’t ask stupid follow up questions. Dom literally explained that it was Guy Campopiano (John “Johnny Echos” Campopiano’s father) Vlad then proceeds to ask Dom “so do you even know who the shooter was?” Vlad needs to be given an award for being the “Dory” of KZread podcasts.

That's because Gambino's era was the peak of the life before RICO indictments, police surveillance technology, cameras everywhere, DNA evidence, and everything else that made getting away with business on the street harder than ever. If he lived to the 1980's, he'd have died in jail doing a 100-year sentence like the rest of the old timers. He was a boss in a time when the life was in a relative golden era and all those guys were making big money, the bosses were on the street to keep everyone in line, cops were happy to take their payoffs to look the other way, and they were running the unions. Then he named his cousin as boss who had no respect from the guys on the street and forced a schism within the family that led to the Gotti era at the same time that the feds were using RICO and everything else to sweep them off the street. Gambino was a good boss but he's also overrated; it was easier for everyone to make money if times were good and the mob was running a lot of shows on the street. You see someone like Gigante who ducked the whole Commission Trial by fooling the feds on who was boss and stayed in power for a long, long time which is why the Genovese guys are still the most powerful family. Even their current boss, Bellomo, is on the street and the guy is a ghost. You never see or hear about him because he does it right. Now the Sicilians run the Gambinos after a messy Gotti era.

Gambinos made the most money and the most power until Gotti became a public figure. Then the Genovese family went from 3 to 1 because Donnie Brasco destroyed the Bonnanos a little before Gotti became boss.

Nope. The Genovese were always the most powerful and they still are and everybody from Michael Franceze to John Pennisi, neither of who were in that family, admit it.

It's about self-love and respect for yourself and your communities! I always respected these goombahs for that shit! However, I'm of Haitian descent and I grew up in an enclave in Flatbush, Brooklyn it was similar in that we also took pride in our neighborhood and protected it as well. If you walked through Parkside Ave during the 1970s through the 1980s acting like you were going to be a problem, you would end up in the trunk of a car in Canarsie!
