jajajajaja well what can i tell you. i am dominican after all. I miss back home too 😩😩😘😘
I made this for my bf and he ate ALL of it. We were both shocked that he liked the way it turned out for me since it was my first time making this food. AND, he told me that leftovers don't keep, so not to make extra. I told him these will keep and added cold water again to reheat. It worked! He couldn't believe it, and he ate the leftovers.

She is fun, witty and charming. definitely gonna try this Sue.
The Green Plantain are roughage. It's what you put into it that adds flavour. Salt, pepper, all purpose seasoning, garlic granules, olive oil, sweet paprika, soy sauce. Then the pickled red onions. Tasty! Watching from Somalia.
Thank you, My daughter and I love this and we have come back to your video to redo it again. African Americans eating Dominican deliciousness!

Yea i love this... I want everybody to enjoy Dominican or Caribbean food for that matter... Thanks 😘😘
I come from Uganda and plantain is our staple food, we eat it with literary everything anytime any where. But our secret to stop it from hardening is never adding salt beef it is fully boiled. You add salt a few minutes before smashing it.

TWO secrets! Plantains are on sale now, too. Big breakfast tomorrow!
Delicious thank you for your wonderful Mangu recipe. It was so good and easy to make !!
Thank you so much for these vids. I'm Dominican but from Baltimore. My mother used to cook all the time but I never stayed home enough to learn this. now I'm about to make some Dominican breakfast!
I made this today. I'm not central or south American, or from the islands, but I love plantain. I like green plaintain because it is a better alternative to potatoes for me. With fried eggs, mangu is excellent. My favorite combination. My wife loves it too.. She is from VE and loves plaintain.
Great tutorial! I loved it!! I'm making my mangu very soon!
Love this, I had it while visiting the Dominican. Looks just like what I had for breakfast everyday. Can't wait to make it at home
Beautiful I can not wait to try it,
Oh wow this is great!!! I didnt know that the African Matooke is also enjoyed in the Caribbeans. We cook it in plantain leaves and steam cook it. Great recipe for athletes and bodybuilders

I love making this with yellow plantains and I mash it with tons of butter, cheese, and some water. I love this soooooooo much. Also Dominican cheese is literally the best cheese I’ve ever had, it’s so stinky but it tastes like heaven

Thank you 😊
Thank u I,am,of,cuban descent. Never learned born in canada
Thank you for that. My mongu did come out stiff and I wanted it with the creamy consistency that you had. Now I know. Ice water.
@Suexoxo

When it comes out stiff is because the plantain continues to cook while we prepare and mash it. adding the cold water stops it from cooking. try it and let me know 😘😘
I made this with some scrambled eggs and cheese... Soooo good

My favorite is when i fry the egg and mash with the plantains. So so good. I am glad you enjoyed. 😘
I'm definitely going to follow your recipe. Do you have a video for pickled red onions?
Plain ol' American of German/Scot descent. I am *so* looking forward to trying this! I'll have to substitute egg beaters egg substitute and scramble them up for my diet, but dang this looks good. I hope I can find a low fat cheese and a turkey based salami to fry up with it.
@Suexoxo
7 жыл бұрын
Robert Bolin dont add full fat butter then. u can use egg whites and also you can boil the egg instead of frying it. i hope u like it.
It turned out super amazing only thing was I didn't have the cheese or salami lol but it tastes delicious with eggs thank you so much

+Captin Kozak good you enjoyed it. Thank you so much :)
Thank you so much for sharing that secret! I have been wondering why you have to use ice water. My friend uses both ice water and the warm water that the plantains were cooked in. She never told me why she used cold water, but she did say that if the cold water makes them too cold for serving, that’s when you go in with some of the hot leftover water from the cooking, and it warms it up enough to eat right away. Thank you so much for making this video! I think a lot of those special tips are lost in translation typically, so you have no idea how much I appreciate this! Off I go to try my first time making mangu, with fried queso and fried salami for my family. I love challenging myself with cooking, so this will be fun lol. I’m also going to do the lightly fried onion slices with vinegar on the side! I’ll let you know how it turns out and if they like it. Thanks again!
