I like the start, it makes sense that the Netherlands would try to take back the Boer states.
When I did the war with Belgium Britain joined them and Russia joined me, they took my entire country but somehow I took the entirety of Belgium via Luxembourg so I still just about won

There is a problem with this explanation. At 10:05 he keeps telling that chinese army defense is ~6 points, while in reality it is no less than 25. What changes everything.

- "this was a very very easy war" - when I try, after the first battle my 20'000 soldiers are left to only 3000 by the defending 12k belgian, who lost noone.

I've tried this strategy about a dozen times and I'm never able to get france to stay out of it. I think its due to the rivalry they have at the start with NL. Honestly probably best to just ignore Belgium for the majority of the game unless you get an ally to join the war. Edit: researching general staff, so you can get line infantry first, greatly increases the chances the gps will stay out and that you win the battles against belgium

Not necessarily rival, if your relationship is below 20 then you should be able to attack.
