    Sure is a nice plane! I think leading edge flaps + CROW mode might help the high alpha.. she does have the "Delta-wobble" as I call it.. Sometimes giving an opposite aileron input, just a quick chop or two gives a good yaw-drag but "hand mixing on the fly" is hard on such a responsive model & so easy to over control.. good aft CG helps Hi-Alpha and beyond super manuvers but then needs gyro for "normal" flight where it acts like a plane instead of a vectored foam kite! So much lifting & control surface area, crazy plane! The full scale F-22 flexes and folds and twitches control surfaces in an organic way like a bird..like scoops, taps, & cranks.. all done by computer "feeling" airflows and movements & throwing instantaneous inputs to meet pilot commands..so awsome to watch in slo-mo! Our planes are so light by comparison, & we deal w/things happening so much quicker.. Flying the MODEL is actually HARDER than flying the full scale plane! Keep flying that plane, get even better!😃👍

    @@TwoBrosRC I still have to get my own, I've flown a much larger twin turbine one, I think the mass really helps, & leading edge flaps too..it had a more asymmetrical positive camber wing w/8°washout root to tip..I know camber & washout help, but I think the FREEWING is more symetrical.. the twin turbine I flew was a one off homebuilt..felt HUGE and floaty @ same time, was epic .. was amazingly easy to fly @ all speeds, had mix of accelerometers & gyro setup + premixed flight conditions, LE flaps&flaps/flaperons engaged with landing gear, went to lower rates, up to 60° pitch/roll "angle selection/lock" (like SAFE in a way). Was a real treat, landing was more throttle management..a blip to roundout in approach flare & floated in ground effect. He had manual 2nd&3rd flap selection..was rather smooth & easy puttering with gear down, like a trainer. Full flaps kept slow w/nose in good moderate flare guy has a nice F-15 also..all I could afford was the kerosene .. We all need the opportunity to get turbine waiver!😎 Meanwhile our EDFs are dreams from our younger days come true!

    Looks like a good flyer. The F-22 is a big flying wing. The big old twin 70mm LX Model F-22 (I think they are called Sky Flight, today) can sustain 45-80 degree nose high level flight. How high alpha depends on how stable your entry. You can six-way mix up elevator to achieve it. So back stick produces deflection in: two up-stabilators, plus two up-nozzles, plus two up-aileron (spoileron), plus two reverse flaps (full wing spoileron), plus two reverse leading edge slats, and two up (inward) rudders. It’s a blast to fly. If you add a gyro it’ll hover on the tail with a fresh battery. It also lands at about 5 mph with all the same surfaces deflected in the direction of max camber. Problem is, the EPS is painful to protect and the servoless retracts have a design life measured in weeks. But being EPS, it floats and glides like a big trainer and can do a full loop within the length of the airplane, maybe 5 feet of altitude. And it’s included 70mm fans are not well balanced, but they work. It’ll stretch a 10 min flight out of a 6S 5000 with V telemetry. It’s right up your alley but your rwy would be hell on the lg.

    Banana Hobby models generally don't interest me much - haven't heard many good things about them (instead I've heard a ton of negative things) - but that does sound like fun. I think I'd be better off modifying the F-22 I currently have to enable thrust vectoring. I could probably modify the wing to add leading edge flaps as well. I already have full scale functionality on everything but the rudders, so the jet has full span flaps, crow, etc all mixed in. Still doesn't do upright high alpha very well - once it gets past about 40 degrees, it starts to depart laterally from controlled flight. I'm pretty sure the rudders get into deep stall and become useless which is why that happens.

  • @FFE-js2zp

    @FFE-js2zp

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@TwoBrosRC Yeah, the main reason the LX jet can do it is creating reverse wing camber negating a big part of the lift from AOA. Have you tried mixing up-stabilator with both flaps and/or ailerons-up, using all or some as spoilerons? Normally, just deflecting both ailerons up some will increase the AOA required for level flight. I’m not familiar enough with your control switches, but I might try putting progressive spoileron on a back mounted index finger roller with that model. As you dial in spoilerons, you could manually add up stabilator to compensate (so the mix would need to be on the left index finger roller) or maybe mix-in some pre-determined up-stabilator along with the up-spoiler mix. It would theoretically work upside down too, so the roller could be centered on neutral aileron and work in both directions (and used as flaperons when upright). Don’t mix spoilerons full time as the jet will stick to the rwy on TO. Just a thought, maybe you’ve already tried it. I fly my Addiction XL that way. So the left index roller just deflects both ailerons’ center point up and down. It’s helpful to add up-spoileron to transition from lvl flight into a hover. And as you slow to land you can pull the roller down for flaperons and the XL’s landing roll might be less than a foot in calm wind. Plus you’re a thumb flyer like me, so using the index finger rollers as primary flight controls is one of the few advantages of our preferred stick control.

    @@TwoBrosRC As for Banana stuff, there are some great airplanes and some trashy ones. FMS started there and was only later picked up by Horizon and others. The 55” FMS Pitts S2B I bought from Banana at introduction and it’s probably my all time fav airplane. The servos need to eventually be swapped for metal as they will strip, not unlike a lot of models. My favorite 2000mm B-17 and 1700mm P-51 and 1700mm F-4U4 all came from there. Super fun, quality airplanes. The LX twin 70mm F-22 has low end components and flimsy bell cranks and pushrods, but is fixable other than the EPS foam.

  • @TwoBrosRC

    @TwoBrosRC

    Howdy! I considered it but didn't think it would be useful enough to give up the full suite of aircraft control that I've got. Thrust reverse can only function on channels 5 to 9, all of which are servo channels on my setup. All 10 channels operate a servo of some kind. Instead of thrust reverse, I opted for the functionality of scale air braking with full spoilerons. I may add a second receiver to the jet and make the rudders separate as well to get the full suite of F-22 controls. If you'd like to see the setup file itself, you should be able to see it via tinyurl.com/SynRCSetupFiles - if you have an IX20, all of my setups are located in that GDrive link free of charge.

    What would cause my F-22 to veer sharply after landing? It taxis straight and takes off straight it only veers and tips after landing smoothly and perfect after 10-20 feet coasting?
