Dome Plateau Jeep Trail Guide for stock vehicles

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Dome Plateau 4x4 trail near Moab, Utah. This is a moderate difficulty off road trail for Jeeps, Toyotas, Fords, Nissans, and all makers of vehicles for off road adventures.
My name is Dewie Jones. I’ve been in a Jeep for 20 years, but I’m still trying to improve my driving skill set. New to being on camera and working on getting better at it. The goal of these videos are to show you a cool trail as well as give you insight into completing it yourself. Feedback welcomed!

Still, I’ll just have to come back here in the future with the crew and make an even better video. Thanks for the support!

nice shots! really beautiful trail! couple things we do religiously when wheeling is airing down and disconnecting. a great free feature to use on your phone is google offline maps, download the area you plan to explore and when you are out wheeling the satellite will still locate and help navigate a bit too, even with zero connectivity. i use that in conjunction with paper maps and it serves me well. we use those books also, but i have found the Benchmark map books by state to be by far the most helpful when exploring. the books you showed are great too, especially for beginners.

  • @coloradomallcrawlers

I agree, I use to air down religiously, but now I use it as needed (unless it’s a trail with a lot of sand, snow, or rock crawling). I do this because I need handicaps, otherwise I under rate difficulty. Also, a lot of new off roaders don’t carry compressors onboard. Yea, I know better about having off line maps (like when I lost my drone), but I know most aren’t going to have more than a Funtreks book or a print out from trails offroad so I try to keep it basic (plus it increases the likelihood of an adventure 😉). However, this was a rushed trip... got kicked out of Moab (which I agree with) and had planned on top of the world this day (had those maps already downloaded but wasn’t going to run it solo). Thanks for watching and appreciate your insights here! I’ll check out those benchmark books... I got Massey’s books, but they’re now all out of date.

@@coloradomallcrawlers i think airing down helps the longevity of your equipment also. i can totally dig exploring with lil or no info, we do it all the time and funny how you pretty much just find cool stuff wandering around out in the middle of nowhere. for the inexperienced i do not recommend this tho. we get lost on purpose but we are really never entirely lost, like you said, you know your way out and after a few trips you will know the area well.

Jeeping with Jenn & John Jeeping with Jenn & John yea, you are probably right... I compensate by going slower on wash board roads and I don’t run and gun like I use to with open diffs. This one is going on 8 years. Yea, that side adventure was fun for sure... I wrote the authors and suggested taking my loop from the overlook instead of backtracking. I wasn’t really lost either, but I definitely didn’t know where that outlook was... I do now tho 😂
