Such a great interview Rob. I grew up watching Trigger Happy so I found this really fun. I also found it interesting how he mentioned the risk involved with following your dreams and how that is a huge barrier for many.

Dom's looks have hardly changed in the last 15 years! He still looks great!

I absolutely love Trigger Happy, it honestly had a massive impact on my life. Watched it as a kid and again now in 26, revisting it, and its absolute genius. An amazing social behaviour experiment. Gives me a sadness and the best unique laughs like nothing else could ever deliver all at the same time. I think the work of Dom Jolly here was pure and revolutionary and never ever copiable.

I never realized this, but growing up to this day I can’t stand anything English as an American, but trigger happy tv is the only thing that I laugh my ass off too. The ideas were intellectual with a thought basis behind them, not trying to be dumber and stupider than the guy before you.

A reminder to all aspiring interviewers; the subject is the star, not you.

Lol - yes - this advice was swimming in my head. I let it go, as I just assumed that the interviewer was indeed a star of equal weight, just unbeknownst to me. Also - the podcast/pub chat format allows much more licence for a two-way conversation - but it goes to show, that there's much to be said for accepted conventions over interview methodology - someone needs to wear the interviewer hat, & someone the interviewee - & - stick to your rails.

Once when William Shatner appeared on Graham Norton (a big evening chat show, in the UK) - he then assumed the dynamic of being a 'co-host' with Graham, as the other guests appeared on the couch. Such an egotist.

Good lord, WHY can't the camera guy just leave the damn camera alone? Zooming in, wobbling about. It's like a child who has never seen a camera shot it. And yeah, interviewer, no one cares, focus on the subject not yourself. Also, stop blocking the camera, and it's 'losing.'

Watched the whole thing which is rare. Dom is part of an intelligent generation of artists/comics or whatever, a classier time. We must bring it back to the analogue age, we were happier.

Please buy some tripods. I've seen POV footage from earthquakes that are more steady. Must be massively distracting for the guest too the way they float about.

My friend texted me today saying “Has he paid 2 quid”. This brought me back instantly to my childhood memories of wrenching with laughter while watching Dom as a child. A great interview with a fantastic comedian!

Trigger Happy defined an era-if you watch it now you realise what a moment they captured. You could never shoot it today the way they did. Even the soundtrack wrapped up a ten year period. The streets were different, and Trigger Happy did so many things that we might have not even appreciated at the time. A grown man dressed as a Boy Scout went right under everyone’s radar. The phone thing was actually much greater than we realised at the time- people actually missed the fact the phone was massive, it’s was so absurd that people missed the obvious stuff. I appreciate Dom’s pragmatic approach to work. We can all identify. Anyway, he has sealed his place in history.

Trigger Happy TV and World Shut Your Mouth were my go to shows to have a laugh as a kid.

I’ve always done this sort of stuff almost my whole life. Didn’t know it was a form of art. It’s weird when he said some people just can’t do these things as they feel uncomfortable. For some it’s just natural. I can’t believe I never ever watched Trigger Happy Tv until binging it on Netflix in 2022! Damn! Would have loved to have joined his team and offer some ideas. The guy is a reality tv genius though.

Dom is so correct , art comes from the cold , the dark, the hostile . Lock us up in a dark room and art will appear in time

Trigger Happy TV played a huge part in shaping me as a person. Discovered this interview after reminiscing about the show with a friend and Dom Joly is just SOOO refreshing to listen to. Guy is absolutely brilliant. Thanks you SO much for this interview. Awesome work.

Trigger happy helped me through tough times back then... I used to suffer terrible depression but I'd put an episode on and it would help me feel better straight away. The music and Dom doing his thing just made me feel happy and warm inside. Thank you for the interview Rob and thank you for trigger happy Dom Jolly 😊 Listening to you both I feel im very similar in my take on life. Respect you both so much. Also Rob.... seriously.... love the way you allow who you are interviewing say what's on his mind and what he believes in... however you don't just agree just to brown nose... you still say if you do or don't agree... much love my friend Dom's outlook on life is IDENTICAL to mine... especially financially.. albeit mine on a poorer scale...watching and listening to him was like watching me and what I do and believe in.. not necessarily his taste in music (I love music and very passionate about it but different) but certainly all his beliefs are identical to mine... love the bloke... I just managed the same lifestyle retrospectively as a carpenter lol

Brilliant interview!

I grew up adoring this man and Trigger Happy TV, such a funny show.

Had to google Rob Moore because I'd never heard of him. He's very intense and focused. Despite this I suspected he was a presenter on Radio 1. Interesting listening as I have a bit of a thing for Dom Joly. I feel like I've sat in the pub with him now. Dreadful camera work. I felt seasick. You can keep it real and un-edited and still use a tripod!

Enjoyed this Love how Dom was like "fuck, I said I wish I was gay and I do drugs and it's not going to be edited out?" but also just finished explaining how he loves taking life as it comes, so you know he secretly enjoyed that curveball.

Dom Joly is a goddamn human treasure. So so so funny and talented

Watching some Trigger-Happy TV recently on KZread got me looking at his twitter account. He seems really hateful, he's calling people see-you-en-tees on twitter, calling people 'gammons', russian spies/puppets. Spiteful. 'Virtue-signalling'. He watches too much news I think, and it is sending him (and others who identify as 'liberals') as bitter as a barrel of limes. Unpleasant to see.
