Dolpa Diary - My Solo Trek to Upper Dolpo | 2017

Dolpa Diary is a self-shot documentary about my month-long solo journey to the mountains of Nepal in 2017. The film reflects on joy and fear experienced along the way.
I've been a outdoor person most of my life. With this journey, I wanted to really push my limits by travelling alone to one of the most isolated region. The trek in itself took a month and after 3 months of tireless edits, we premiered it at the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival. The film was very well received by the audience and won it's first award; Best Adventure Film award at the festival and later grabbed "Best Nepali Woman Director" award at the Human Rights International Film Festival. The whole journey of travelling and editing has been so incredible for me and my production team. It is a piece I am incredibly proud of and an adventure I will not forget.
Dolpa Diary was successfully screened at:
1. Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival, Kathmandu
2. San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, San Francisco
3. Human Rights International Film Festival, Kathmandu
4. IMF Mountain Film Festival, New Delhi
5. Himalaya International Mountain Film of China, Shenzhen
Awards:
Best Adventure Film- Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival, Kathmandu 2. Best Nepali Woman Director- Human Rights International Film Festival, Kathmandu

3 years ago I watched your video on Nepali travellers ( swo yatra challenge) and among all these ladies out there your trip was the best one for me 🍀 ! There stories were also good ones and adventures but yours was quite different : 1 )the way you got lost and found the shepherd lady ✨ 2) The reminiscing moment of looking at the stars 🌟 in a clear night sky afters uncountable days 3) Ani tyo unexpected festival 🌈 ! These moments brought goosebumps and an urge to travel more : to know how kind people are on the other side besides our comfort boundaries ! ONCE again THANK YOU for sharing you’re amazing journey 🍀✨🦋🍂🌏 !

I have travelled solo in my country as well, wandering aimlessly, taking leap of faith, sometimes facing tribulation, but eventually triumphing . Travel is often associated with romanticism, which is true, but it can be ordeal sometimes. One of the most real travel documentaries I have ever watched. Not shy of displaying real emotions. Extremely inspirational!

I got goosebumps all over, what an incredible soul searching journey, i was able to connect to a lot of emotions just through this mindblowing video, this is the true meaning of life , to conquer a journey full of thorns but find roses along the way. Thanks for sharing and what a beautiful edit. Someday I want to gather all my courage to do something like this. Dolpa seems like a place full of beautiful hearts and amazing landscapes.

Impressive, courageous and heroic traveling solo in Dolpo. I just did Dolpo to Kagbeni, Mustang a couple of weeks ago. Navigation is important in wild and remote area like Dolpo. I always use Gaia Gps App when I need to confirm the trail. It does need network. It was one of the hardest trekking I have done crossing 5, 5000+m passes.

You are the best. Your courage to travel alone in that kind of place as a female is unbelievable.(No offence just an opinion No One is safe even in the most developed cities of nepal so, i don't think it is a good idea for anyone to travel alone in that kind of rural area of nepal especially being a female you become more vulnerable so, please try to take someone with you next time when you go to this kind of adventure i repeat it is just my opinion.) I don't know what else i should say . Take care. I love you❤️ Thank you for this awesome Video.
