Comical video at your expense. Poor Bryce. Running into the group reminded me of when I was phoneless. I was going to meet friends at a reindeer farm in Indiana. By providence, I ended up seeing them on a backcountry road, then we found where we were going.

Kudos! Thank you for telling a detailed Sods tale of getting lost, found, sorta found, lost, found.... !!!! Done it 2x. It makes you appreciate the the value of being calm, prepared and cool. I spent 3 days loitering in the Bear Rocks area this past Nov. Slept in my vehicle and day hiked waiting for whiteout snow squalls and wind to die down. (I swear, there was supposed to be a window!) It didn't happen. I'm going to give it my best in June. When I get lost and turned around, I'll just ask "What would Bryce do?" And then , I'll laugh a little instead of getting panicky, figure it out, and get lost again. Good job buddy

There was a trail sign there a few weeks ago marking the trail head. There is a much easier way to get to lions head a little north and I never understood why the carins exist at the southern point. Also a nice area to camp near the top in a large grove of spruce.

Bryce take a look at Ordnance Survey who produce maps in the UK the map you looked at was awful. I didn’t see you use a compass do you have one?

it is a bad map. you cant tell in the video but it does have topography on it that was handy. also Gaia and All Trails apps are great to use. Yes i did have a compass it was my saving grace.

Dont get lost. 1. Download Avenza 2. then register 3. then search for the map where you’ll be. 4. BF using Avenza w map on the trail put phone in airplane mode. Note: my Iphone lasts 1.5 days with Avenza running but i dont use it continuously i just check my location i dont do breadcrumbs. This saves battery + i always bring small waterproof external battery w cord to execute 2 full recharges of phone. 4 years never lost never run out of battery and this method works for any trip less than 4 days.

Time for people to invest in an InReach and not camera gear 😂 You'll be able to contact one another more easily.
