I was born in Illinois, partially raised in Florida, now live in Colorado, but much of my family history are from the backwoods Missouri. The town my Grandpa Gray was born and raised, not far from Branson, no longer exists. In fact the only things that remain are the Grays’ cemetery (it has no name, but that’s what I call it), foundation parts, and pieces of wood sticking up from the ground amongst the forest. The Ozarks and Hulls Ford will always have a special place in my heart!

This is so special to me. We (my family) have visited all of the cabins in Cades Cove in the Smokey Mountains. Most of these cabins are in Cades Cove.

I wanted to go to the Carolina s when I got back from Nam. Personal problems regarding my Brother's suicide prevented me from making such a move. I was ready to settle down, get married and start up a family. Good thing I stayed out west. I bet everyone in that group knows what "Hillbilly Heroine" is. This country is in a much bigger crisis. Opioids. Right now it is My Sierras, My Great Basin, My Reno., My Carson River. I was stationed at Ft. Bragg. I started to make friends in the community. They begged me to come back when I got back from Nam. My youth in So-Cal sucked.
