There is just something special about Dolly, a girl from the mountains of Tennessee, singing with Ladysmith Black Mambazo...different backgrounds but making beautiful art together.

Right! The synergy of a group of black African men and a single small old little white woman from Tennessee. Music! Bob Dylan! Yay!

Not to mention performing a classic tune written by a Muslim! I know he wasn’t a Muslim at the time, but he was always a searcher.

I come here every so often, just to feel better. I worry about our democracy, our planet, and a lot of stuff. I just feel a little better after listening to this. I still hope we can all ride the peace train.

@@kriscammaer3403 Please don't even mention that despicable Yusuf, and listen to and enjoy the original song sung by Cat Stevens from the seventies.

@@danielfronc4304... Exactly my feelings... One of the very favourites of my youth, I certainly admire his work, cannot bring myself to listen to him... Glad to have found this version of a song that holds an important symbolic value in my life... Remember listening to it as a 20 years old, early evening on a kibbutz cottonfield. Having left an independence war ravaged country less than 8 minths before and being confronted with a very insecure surroundings I was really hoping this song would help the momentum towards a better understanding. The composer certainly didn't live to my expectation and neither did my generation not to mention mankind in general. Sorry for the rambling. All the best.

@@masonanddixon6191 Right on! Sounds like we're alot alike, both from about the same time period and geographical area (Mason and Dixon). I was never a "diehard" fan of any of the sixties and seventies artists but greatly enjoyed their music. When Cat Stevens, whose work I had truly loved (a big deal for me), went all zealot with his narrow minded poisonous and demented thinking I truly felt great sorrow for the loss of a phenomenal artist, who had just come into his own. Stevens, Carole King, Carly Simon, JT, etc. were the artists whose music was the playlist of my maturing and made for great summer times. What probably 90% of people don't know was that Stevens had chosen to embrace Islam (nothing wrong with that), abandoning his music and changed his name to "Yusuf". However, after the Teheran, Iran seizure of our embassy personnel a novelist named Salman Rushdie wrote the novel "The Satanic Verses" which mentionned Muhammad or Allah. For just mentionning his name, the wacko Ayatollah Kohmeini, leader of Iran put out a religious "hit" contract (a "death fatwa") on Rushdie. This was a very real threat at the time as many zealots did carry out such killings. Rushdie had to go into hiding but worst for us was that "Yusuf" santioned the fatwa and said Rushdie must die! After that, I never listened to any of his music which kinda' just faded away until his gteat "Father and Son" song was used in "Guardians of The Galaxy vol.2". It's tough because I've always felt betrayed by his irrational life choice and leaving his great music behind, as though being islamic precluded advancing his music. I know that you know all this. The only reason I bring it back up is that hopefully people will read this and understand his conspiracy in a very real death contract. At the time, and years after, Khomeini's followers were active in such assassinations. The life story of "Cat Stevens" is very sad but for those reading this it's a teachable point. Glad to hear from another Stevens' fan from back in the day! Peace to you and your loved ones.
Rest in Peace Joseph Shabalala . .
Cat, Dolly and the Mambazo... everything is beautiful here.
I love Dolly. She seems to love anyone, and does not care what their color, sexual orientation, or political party might be. She's really an inspiration to all the world.

It's a you tube obsession. SJW's were brainwashed in school to see everything in terms of race or identity politics of some type or another. You just can't virtue signal your moral superiority if you treat everyone the same. Someone out there is being 'oppressed' and they're just the people to complain about it and tell everyone else how heartless they are because they don't 'care' like SJW's do. Yeah, crazy, I know...but that's how they roll.

I am so so pleased that the world has someone called Dolly Parton!!! She is and always will be a LEGEND !!!!!!!
The power of music: two different cultures and languages together in harmony for the good of all. What is better than that?
Dolly + Ladysmith + Peace Train...what a trio
Oh Dolly...we need you more than ever!
A little girl with a great big voice. One of a kind.
Dolly certainly belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This just one of the songs that would qualify her for that honor.
She is truly the best parts of my Appalachian heritage. She reminds me of her bluegrass ancestors who sang workers rights songs in solidarity to the miners. She can gap divides with love and empathy and if all of us could do this it would be an amazing world.
They are like angels , all but God has forgotten~beloved mother of us all Africa, be ever strong & know there are those like my husband & me who refuse to ignore you...beloved
We need such artist who can change the world through music
God bless Black Mambazo.....eish lengoma imnandi madoda.
Rip to Joseph Shabalala of Ladysmith Black Mambazo 🇿🇦
Thank you everyone for collaborating with, supporting and loving African music and its musicians
This is one of the best performances by any artist ever
Dang. I knew Dolly was popular in South Africa. Had no idea why. I'm a long-time fan of Ladysmith, knew Joseph. Didn't realize how her folk background melded so well with theirs. Wow! I'm floored.
Rest In Paradise, Mr. Joseph Shabalala...
Dolly has a special voice.
Bless you Dolly, one of the greatest artist America has ever seen !
Wow Dolly Parton! I love her too. I am sorry folks but the color issue will still be there. It is part of history. And thank God we have someone like Dolly Parton promoting peace ... so, peace!!! If someone brings out colour issues, please just ignore or respond with humility ... we are proud to be what we are. We have the right to fight for an equal treatment ... and we will get it ... no aggressiveness, it is tiring ...
Rest in peace MSHENGU DONGA LAMAVUSO YOU WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR YOUR TALENT TO THE GROUP AS WHOLE KEEP THE CANDLE BUNNING AND TO THE FAMILY CONDOLENCES TO ALL OF YOU HOPE GOD IS TAKING CARE OF OUR HERO

Wow - so unexpected and random - so wonderful. Love both these acts - and peace train is one of the best songs written in my view. Wow..... great to stumble upon this...

+Brendan McCaffery I'm with you, this is a great find and props to the Colonel for finding and posting it! And yes, among all the crap music of the '70's are a few songs like this that stand out like shining beacons of hope.
@Jimpeacfammusic

+moo kins compared with today, most of the 70's was a shining beacon of hope, and a symbol of what humans are capable of becoming.....there were so many people involved with acts of humanity, that it became a rising tide that gave birth to most of the humanitarian agencies that have done so much good around the globe.....in fact without these soldiers of peace the U.S. looks like a hedonistic, war mongering, self involved ,greedy and apathetic nation. Our generation is truly the salt of the earth without which the whole thing would have gone rotten.
Reminds of moving away from my childhood. Played it the night before while packing the last of our items. Great childhood, great song.
She seriously is thw meaning of ARTIST!!how cool is that!!
Well done Dolly & L.B.M well respected artists

"Ride on the peace train." Lord in these days of vitriol, division, and alternative facts, pls change people's heart. LET THEM SEE THAT despite our superficial differences, we are ONE race. HUMAN!
This has certainly made me feel good about myself ✌🏾
because of her image, I think she is so massively underrated. I've never heard a cover she's done where there's something not unique about it - her voice alone makes the version unique.
Dolly and Black Mambazo, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. TZ

@ColonelFain Thank you thank you. Been feeling a little low this week. Calms and relaxes soul. Much love from Botswana.
what a duet
this is wonderful!!!
There's something about her ( been through a bit of stuff). She knows a hell of a lot. I reckon Cat (or whatever he wants to call himself these days) would be very happy with that rendition . Blessings
She said on npr that she heard a lifesavers commercial & said "that's exactly the sound I want for my Peace Train cover -- who is it?" And then she found out & brought them to the studio...
The collab I didn't know I needed...
