I made mine yesterday using white mesh. Couple things...got my middle off center. UGH but it still looks good. I had trouble getting my pipe cleaners to go thru so I used an ice pick. Lol...I am going to add a bee to mine. Thank you!!!!!

I got it from Hobby Lobby. It didn't fray too much but I always just give it a good trim at the end.

What size are the pieces of mesh before you fold them?
