I live in metro Detroit we had a 99% coverage where I was and I was in the office. I was very excited and it was all I could think about all day as I had purchased my glasses last September and I've been holding on to them. I bought them from one of the approved sites that NASA recommended and in order to get them shipped I had to get 20 pairs. So when I came in I was the belle of the ball because a lot of people were able to get glasses for me and those who didn't have them shared them with their departments. Our office allowed everybody who wanted to to go outside and it was incredible. I am a huge space person so this was like a big day for me I was even going to take it off of work if they weren't going to let us go out and watch the whole thing. It was really amazing and although we didn't have totality like you did I watched a lot of videos of that and it was just super cool. Great experience to live through!

99% is still pretty good coverage. My husband's work ordered them glasses and let them go outside too. My son was able to take some of the kids he works with outside to see it. Then the Perot Science Museum donated glasses to all the schools so they could watch it. That was great because the schools decided to change the lunch schedules and let everyone go outside to see it. I had seen glasses when we were out of town for one of my daughters' gymnastics competitions in February and bought a few pair. I was so glad I did because I hadn't seen any since that day lol. It was such an exciting day and one I'll never forget. I'm glad you were able to get to go outside and see it too. 😁

@@rebeccastuthecrew wow that is great! It seems like most cities at least if you were in the path were really promoting it. The eclipse that we saw in 2017 I don't remember there being that much hype about it or even being able to find a pair of glasses anywhere. We were at the 99% right at 3:13 which is right around when kids either get out of school or buses would be leaving so a lot of the school areas arranged for kids to either have a half a day or allowed the kids to stay and be busted home later which is awesome.

The whole thing was amazing. My youngest is home schooled because she does high level competition gymnastics, so her and I went out as soon as it started. It was fun to watch over the course of an hour move across the sky. McKinney isn't far from where we are so I bet your family had a pretty good view. we also have family in Ohio near Cleveland and got to see some pictures they took. It was a fun day. I live in Bismarck Missouri. I watched the eclipse with my granddaughter and my great-grandchildren. I was amazed and so happy that I could see once in my lifetime. I am 77 years old.

I saw the eclipse in Iowa approx.1:50 and So beautiful!

Thanks for sharing your fantastic pictures. I live in Southern CT and attended a viewing party at a library that had telescopes set up. We saw a partial eclipse (90%) through the glasses and a telescope. The temperature did drop, but the skies were more like a cloudy day than dark. Although we didn't experience totality, the eclipse seemed to unify us. I noticed how people were smiling around us, commenting on the temperature drop and just enjoying the event. The person I was with is still talking about it. I heard that it was cloudy in some areas that experienced totality, so people who did travel couldn't really see it. I was hoping to see Jupiter, Uranus, and the Devil's Comet, but unsure if you could see the planets at 90% and the telescopes were set up for the eclipse. I signed up for another stargazing event on Sat and it was cancelled due to rain. My next chance is Wed and more rain is predicted 😠

I love that they set up a telescope. I don't think anyone around here did that, but we had the protective glasses which was a lot of fun to get to watch as it got closer and closer. Really neat. A fun experience for sure.

94% coverage here in west Michigan, in a beautiful, cloudless sky. The best part was the awesome shadows the trees made on my patio!

That is awesome! I was so worried when we got up in the morning and we had this huge thick blanket of clouds. I thought for sure we were going to miss it. Thankfully it cleared up enough that we were able to see the whole thing once it hit totality. The hour leading up it would get covered up a little bit, few minutes at a time but mostly clear . I was thrilled lol. I had been looking forward to it for a few months now. I heard the shadows made different shapes on the ground. That would have been neat to see too.

My youngest and myself went out as soon as it "began" 12:23 lol there was just a little dot covered in the corner. We woke up to really thick clouds and I thought for sure we were going to miss it. Thankfully it cleared up in time to watch the whole thing. My older kids came over to watch with us about 20 minutes before the whole thing was covered. They were excited too. It was a fun day and a really neat experience. I'm glad you got to see it too... especially with your grandchildren. That is a memory they will surely hold near and dear for the rest of their lives :)

We got to see the eclipse from Blue Ridge TX. Amazing!

It was amazing. I think you're about an hour from where I am. Was it cloudy for you in the morning? We woke up to a thick blanket of clouds and I thought for sure we were going to miss it. Slowly I kept seeing the sun peeking out and it finally cleared out for the most part. It ended up being a really good day.

Here in my Southern CA area it was a partial eclipse but what amazed me was that as it got darker I heard and saw the reactions of birds, obviously very disturbed. It didn't last long, and immediately I heard all kinds of bird noises and could see many calm down in my backyard I see from my "perch" where I use my laptop.

YES the birds were chirping like crazy and so did the crickets as it got darker. I think they were really confused lol.

Even getting to see a partial eclipse is pretty cool. My dad is In Ohio and they had a pretty good view. I'm surprised (NJ isn't that far about 5 hours away) that you didn't get totality. I know here they were expecting "huge" crowds and giving us all these warnings about the crowds and avoiding the freeway .... Then it wasn't anywhere near what they were expecting which was kind of funny. 🤣

No unfortunately we didn’t. We had about 90% coverage of the sun. So it got a little overcast but nothing like we saw in other areas. Totality was witnessed in NY, but up in the Syracuse, Rochester area. Which is 6 + hours from where I’m located in NJ. Like I said, it was still very cool.

Great eclipse pictures! I have lived in Southern California my entire life and it didn't show up very well here. My older son moved outside of Dallas and has a very pretty hobby farm, (all animals are pets) and he said the chickens ran inside and the horse and goats ran to the gate like they were going in for the night. He said it was kind of eerie. My dogs, cat, and big pony here didn't pay any attention!

Oh wow! That is kind of eerie. My daughters were excitedly chatting and I got them all to be quiet for a second because I noticed the the birds and crickets were all chirping away like they do right before sunset every night. I heard of other animals thinking it as night time too. I bet when it got bright again a few minutes later they were ALL confused lol. It was so weird though when the street lights started to turn on and how dark it got so quickly but also how bright it got almost as fast. Neat experience.

It really was. You are only about half an hour from me. I woke up and was so worried we were going to miss it with all the clouds lol. Thankfully they cleared up for the most part. It was an amazing experience. 2 of my girls and myself went out early, soon as it was starting to move in it's path. As the hour progressed more of my girls showed up which was evident to all my neighbors with the loud girl screams when it hit totality lol. Never a dull moment here. I'm glad you got to experience such an amazing event with a friend 😊

I want to get the cosmetic cases for small art supplies. Maybe the makeup brush case too.

Oh that's a good idea! Did you see a few weeks back they had those clear cases that held 9 little clear "pots" with screw on lids? It would be perfect for separating beads or tiny craft items. My daughter likes to make bead crafts and they were so nice!

I got a few of the round coasters. My daughter uses resin and I'm wondering if she can put a little in the center since it is hollowed out a little bit. I hope it works :) The glass jars with the birds on top are even prettier in person! I hope you have an amazing weekend!!

Ok Neighbor lol. You had a really good view too then. Did y'all start the day cloudy like we did? When I woke up and saw how bad the clouds were, I thought for sure we were going to miss it. Thankfully it cleared up as we approached noon. It was such a neat experience.
