Conspiracy Theories not only exploit that but are also memetic hazards (or weapons, as the case may be) that spread unless you take draconian information control measures (i.e., go the route of Russia and China). Also, I recommend buying a copy of _The Selfish Gene_ and _Transhuman Space: Toxic Memes_ to get you into the world of memetics, which will cause you to understand why we're in this situation.

I'm a bit off topic here, but I find Timothy Snyder's testimony so much, so much better by far than the testimony of the various university presidents in House committees. Which I find nauseatingly weak. I've also followed Snyder's lectures on Ukraine, and I'm starting to read his book Bloodlands.

I am a European, the border between justice to fellow humans ends at the Russian border. From the Russian revolution, the years of the USSR to the present time, Russia was a state that was built on suppression, aided by corrupt politicians, using massive propaganda. When Georgia Governor Kemp was the Secretary of State and tasked with protecting Georgia's elections, he was also running for governor. He wrongfully purged the rolls of registered voters of 350,000+ names. That is a whole lot of people who lost their right to vote, and that is one reason Greene was able to get elected.
