This is common knowledge of how Korean entertainment companies work. It’s just another way businesses try and negate blame from them. Idols don’t even get to choose their hair colour, what makes you think they get to choose if they can stay active in a group or not? The decision almost always lies with the company unless it’s some personal issues like health and injury. If it were his choice, he would’ve stayed and simply apologised profusely (despite the perpetrator breaking korean defamation laws and sharing private things). If you’re involved in a serious scandal, your company removes you until it blows over/gets a bit better OR they fire you. You don’t get a say, they literally are on slave contracts and own their lives, don’t be so naive, kpop is a terrible and controlling industry, rookies are the bottom of the pyramid when it comes to making decisions and we’re dealing with SM, the people who used to force trainees to get surgery otherwise they wouldn’t be allowed to debut. He hasn’t been kicked, that’s what you got right, but it was NOT up to him and if he had made a fuss, he would’ve been removed permanently. SM has you wrapped around their dick, they are doing this for PR and media and to save face for themselves, you’d be naive to think a company like SM of all people give a flying fuck about their rookies like that. So far, he seems safe and will probably come back if they ever give them a full album

Overwork, abuse etc is heavy in the industry just look at suli and others just look at what went down with spire ent omega x and later 50/50. Plus 98% of scandals are fan driven bullshit!. The reality is when a kpop idol is removed from a group they rarely return they are the exception not the rule. Especially if its a rookie group that just started out, any of the members are expendable. The only time this remotely changes is when it's a veteran group like Exo SHINee BTS etc this is when a issue would get squashed and nobody loses a member. What's happening to Seunghan is shit but what Edward actually means is that this situation (or something similar) has happened to other idols before and for some, a hiatus, may lead to leaving the group. There is often a letter of apology issued even in a situation where they did nothing that warrant one; like having a romantic/sexual partner(s) or smoking. Yeah, smoking isn't good for you but millions of people smoke/have smoked and they don't have to issue a public apology. Why does Seunghan have to? He's actually pointing out a huge flaw in the industry. These artists are put on such a high pedestal. If it's found out that an idol is in a relationship, is not straight, is not cisgender, smokes, has an addiction, etc., a lot of companies makes them issue an apology letter, puts them on hiatus and sometimes decide to drop them instead of issuing a statement saying there is nothing wrong with someone falling in love, being true to themselves and that just because someone has bad habits/an addiction, that doesn't make them a horrible person. They should, if they want and when they are ready, be able to post about their relationships. Seeing someone smoking shouldn't make them go viral on social media. Fans should be fighting companies in the industry that get in the way of idols doing or sharing their typical activities. Yes, sasaengs are part of the problem but companies that keep trying to give their idols the image of forever single, straight, cisgender, macho guy/cute, dainty woman, doesn't party, doesn't swear, knows nothing about sex and basically belongs only to the fans aren't helping the situation.

Why is everyone getting so pressed abt Seunghan in the comments?? 😭Eddy was obviously making a joke, not making light of the situation or dissing him. Sure it sucks that Seunghan is on hiatus (I don't think he deserves this kind of treatment given the situation and I hope the hiatus ends... although ultimately what can we do), but it's really not that deep.
