Credit where credit is due to the visionary and clever wonan who first wrote a successful funding application, then planned, managed and delivered the Taking Turtles off the Menu project for a number of years in the Burnett Mary Region, Queensland Australia. A dedicated project officer and due to her vision this project has been funded year after year under the Nest to Ocean program. It is heartening to see results from years of planning and project delivery. Well done to everyone involved but especially to the initial instigator of this long-lived project.

Yeah you're right on point about how much dogs love and care for us humans, but I'm afraid I can't agree with you that" we don't deserved dogs"! Some of us certainly don't deserve to be even called human and I know what you're talking about, but many of us, all over the world are truly animal lovers and we treat our dogs as a equal member of our closest family! 🐾❣️

These videos are so well done.

I prefer the preserve animal habitat as our population grows by keeping in mind that every structure and every highway must also include the native wild animals safety and migration patterns into account. If we had done this from the start "looking at you 1990's" human population growth wouldn't have had such a negative impact on our furry friends. Even nowadays we're still putting pipes and cables underground and causing sink holes all over and the solution to that is simple, just change your perspective on architecture and build above not below. But as usual the ones that are in control of all these are ancient mummies with the mind capacity of a mentally challenged slug. Don't blame yourselves, blame the corporations and fatcats that rather see profit over equality for every species on the planet.

Exploiting dogs in conservation only leads to increasing dog populations at shelters as they are dumped when no longer useful. Dingo dogs have adapted to their surroundings where they provide more benefit to the native ecosystems. Diversity of vital native carnivores are essential for healthful ecosystems.

No detection dog in the world is ever "dumped" by their handler. These are extremely valuable dogs with years of hard work by many put into each detection dog, exceptional pedigrees, and significant amount of not just time but also money put into each dog. And then, above any time or money, is the emotional investment: the bond we form with our k9 partners is extremely deep. Well above & beyond the bond formed with a pet dog. As I say in the doco, our k9 partners truly are an extension of us. From the day we meet, we are at each other's sides and right til the end mate. Those handlers who aren't the legal owners of their k9 colleague (often the case in e.g. military or police), the handlers are often legally allowed to adopt the dog when it retires. Happens all the time. Point being, detection dogs absolutely do not add to the problem of overcrowded shelters. Never have, and never will.

Animals are not invading. Humans bring them in, but it's the Animals that pay the ultimate price. "Dog Conservation"? Ludicrous. Just another excuse to continue breeding practices that add to the problem. Our actions must be addressed. Leave blameless Animals alone. We arenrhis planet's parasite. We need to check our actions. Slaughtering blameles beings is the lazy and irresponsible human cruelty.

Unfortunately I think there aren't many alternatives for decreasing the numbers of harmful species. Invasive species upset the fragile balance of an ecosystem, even if it's not their intention to do so. Increased numbers of a non-native species have wide-reaching impacts; affecting the wellbeing and population of one native species goes on to affect other species, as well as vegetation. When human intervention upsets that balance, human intervention is required to right those past wrongs, even when it's upsetting.

Weird connection to make honestly. To criticize what they’ve coined as “dog conservation” as “another excuse to continue harmful breeding practices”, misses the entire point. Did you watch the whole video? You don’t think that they are breeding droves of these dogs and releasing them into the wild and exasperating the issue, correct? Yes, it sucks that they are now having to kill off a bunch of critters in order to help restore balance. Yes, this particular way of working towards balancing the over population of an invasive species is tedious and a bit of a drop in the bucket. It’s still certainly a step in the right direction. It will have a more helpful, positive impact on the problem than spinning one’s wheels making disconnected, negative comments on videos of people doing actual, helpful work irl. Just seems like you kinda missed the whole point of what was presented in the video…

They are doing a remarkable job. Terrible situation with that horrible foxes, oh my gosh.
