Such a strange freak accident. All his intestines just ripped out and it's very sad to see the dogs face look so unaware of the fatal injury he has. Poor thing, I wish the owners all the best and may he Rest In Peace.

RIP Little Guy. SO sad for him and his owner and its even worse when these things happen around the holidays. Thank you for trying to save him.

sometimes i think i could totally be a vet but if someone brought this dog to me id faint and then we'd both be screwed lol

Definitely one of the most important reasons you should not let your pets outside unsupervised. Especially if you have cats and they run around outside all the time, keep in mind that other bigger animals (like coyotes) can and will eat them.

Very heartbreaking! His family must be devastated. I hope it's somewhat of a comfort to know he's not in pain anymore. Thanks for all you do Dr. Martinez!

Oh no.... This is so sad. The kind of thing that could happen to anyone. We have to check underneath our cars and around the sides of our house every time we take our dogs out at night due to alligators from the canal behind us. Wild animals are unpredictable and we can't prevent everything, even when we're trying our hardest! My condolences to his parents. Hugging my fur kids a little tighter tonight.

My two dogs Frank and Jesse were killed by coyotes a few years back, seeing this brings back some old wounds 😞 but also some good memories I think of them still from time to time and miss them very much 🤧

Damn! My career was as an RVT(Registered Veterinary Technician). I’ve seen these circumstances too many times (euth on the Sx table) and it NEVER gets easier! I thought I’d just be reminiscing about surgery - never dreamt it was a scrub. Sniff...

My condolences to the owner of the this dog and I'm so sorry for your loss. I'd do the same exact thing to those coyotes,you know? Poor dog had to die for nothing,especially since he was minding his own business; he didn't provoke those coyotes into attacking him. I think coyotes are cold blooded killers. If I had a gun,I'd shot every coyote there is. Rest In Peace baby.

I had a coyote walk past me when I was out walking my dog around 1 am one night . I thought it was a dog at first . I live the Cleveland suburbs tho lol . But it crossed at the crosswalk just past me and kept going . But I carry my pistol on walks usually so I would've been ok :)

Pistol probably won't help you because if they're attacking, they're not going to just stand there waiting for you to shoot them. An air horn would probably be more effective against a coyote.

The requirements for a CCW vary by state, but none have a marksmanship requirement other than "standard human sized target at 10 yards."

Chérie The jejunum is the part of the intestinal tract that absorbs all of the nutrients from the food that is eaten. Without it digested food would simply move to the colon and be expelled, resulting in the poor dog starving to death. In this situation, euthanasia is the only merciful answer.

if this was a human you can guarantee they would have done their best to save that person...
