Dog Trick Tutorial: "Clean Your Paws!"

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Another dog trick that was created by Solea and inspired us to organize it into a cued behavior. It may not be very practical in actually cleaning your dog's paws, but it's cute and a lot of fun to teach. Most dogs will pick up on this relatively easily.
Teaching a dog to do tricks and fun/silly behaviors has countless benefits. Whether the goal is to promote stronger obedience or help the dog become better at learning, teaching tricks will develop and strengthen a lifelong bond between a person and their dog.
Let me know what other fun tricks you would like to teach your dog and I may make a tutorial on it in the future.

I trained our Shi-Tzue how to wipe her feet when I saw the behavior as a puppy. She's now done it on the rug every day and every time I let her back inside after doing her business for the past 13 years or so. (She's 14.) That's consistency.

+Patchesmykittenlol :D it will be more challenging because she's set in her ways, but if you're patient and consistent enough, it's possible. You'll just have to do it in steps like the video teaches. 1st: Teach her to focus her attention on you. (She won't learn if she's always distracted). 2nd: Teach her the bow (onto the rug). 3rd: Teach her how to paw the rug like the video says. Don't move on to another step until she consistently performs the previous step. Practice, patience, consistency. Good luck!

I love how she wipes, then pauses to look, the wipes, then pauses, like, "I'm wiping my feet dammit, where is my treat?!"

In my old house the downstairs toilet was beside the back yard door, so I tended to put the dog out for the loo when I went. Since I wasn't done sometimes I taught my dog to go and close the door after himself. Now that I've moved and have an upstairs toilet, he still closes the door after he goes to the toilet. Got me thinking you can teach alomost anything to a dog besides the usual roll over stuff. Good job dude.

Thanks Tab, Solea, your videos are great! I've uploaded a video of my Boxer, Rosie - 3 months old, after just 5 minutes of following your instructions on my channel (couldn't add link). Breaking it down into a natural action for the puppy trying to dig the treat from under the mat and building on that slowly works amazingly. I couldn't believe we had this after 5 minutes, I know we have a lot more to do but wanted to share this so far success story. Keep up the good work, thanks again.
