Lovin the great editing style change from your prior videos!! Also, I'm having great success with your training videos. My first ever GSD is now 5 months old and doing great (I had him since 10 wks of age). The early bonding importance that you stressed was critical in my success with your program. Keep up the fantastic work that you are doing and thanks again!!

This is glorious, I have been researching "your dog" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Diyadison Genia Equalizer - (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my work buddy got cool results with it.

I'm freaking out because my full grown Pitt seems to be growing more muscle in the neck area....so I must be doing something right. Problem? He needs a replacement collar and I'm having a terribly easy (not) time finding the right size for him. I'm literally going to have to take his current collar with me to get one that's bigger. :)

My 3 y old rehome dog have only worn harness. I thinking about switching to a collar to reduce her pulling. Any suggestions on how to do the switch to not harm her neck?

Hi Robert Could you let me know where a slip lead should sat on the dogs neck? I've seen videos with them high, low and in the middle Thanks great video as always

They should be high on the neck so that you have more control over the dog and there is less risk of it choking the dog.

Which one do you use durning training? The place I have been trying my 1 1/2 year old German Shepard at use a 1/8" nylon rope. Like a choke chain in action. I heard some bad things that it can crush the dogs wind pipe or sever the vertebra is use duder strong correction. (shown aggression to others dogs) What are your thoughts? I am a member.

Great production, thanks for the video! I do have one AMA question: My dog often gets scared of other people, whether they are just passing by (if they are carrying bags or have different profile it's 100% that he will react) or trying to approach and try to pet him. Of course, he starts barking (and he is a loud barker :)) and I am not sure how I should behave in that situation. Any suggestions?

@@RobertCabralDogs do you recommend one over the other. My 6 mth old rough collie only knows for flat collar and it is pretty loose and it works

For choke collars. Do you only put them on during training sessions or is it something that they would wear all the time in place of the typical flat collar?

@@RobertCabralDogs Thanks Robert I will go look right now : ) I found them on Amazon UK, but with the import fees and shipping it works out at £21.00. Why we don't have these here in the U.K I have no idea. I will hunt around. The only ones similar are for greyhounds but they are not right for a Collie ,nor do they have the clip fastener. Thanks for giving me hope though : )

Hey Laura. I've never had an issue getting decent all nylon martingales from Amazon. Brands like Dazbar, Red Dingo, Softex and GoGo from £9.99. Try searching under "half check" rather than "martingale".

Start slowly. Bring the leash out and just leave it around the house. Reward every single time he sniffs the leash, or when he doesn't show fear. Once he is unphased by the leash just laying around, try putting the leash on him. Reward for any behavior where he doesn't show fear. Let him walk around with the leash for like 2 minutes. Build up to an hour, a day, etc... reward big time! Then once he's okay with the leash being on him you can start to work on walks. Just be patient. He's obviously been traumatized with a leash before. With time, love, patience he can over come this. As his pack leader you've gotta help build his confidence.

I thought this video would explain more why you would use a choke or a prong collar. These devices seem uncomfortable by design. I saw your video raging against collar bans. I wish I understood your position better.

Believe it or not a pinch collar is far safer for a dog who is a hard puller on the leash than a flat collar. The pinch collar puts pressure around the full circumference of the neck instead of at a single pressure point on the dogs throat like a flat collar when the dog pulls. I have seen several dogs that were very hard pullers on lead with collapsed tracheas from pulling against a thin flat collar. The pinch collar is designed to be uncomfortable when pulled on but it's a much more effective way of communicating with the dog through leash pressure than a flat collar. Any collar can be abused but a pinch collar used properly keeps many dogs out of shelters and gets shelter dogs to behave well enough to be adoptable. You need to get past the looks of the tool. Robert has several other videos on his page about pinch collars if you would like more information.
