6:06 my immediate assumption is that this marking is so the comerade screwing the receiver and barrel together knows to line up the threads appropriately via these marks. Avoids overthreading.

I have an M1938 with 3 of those boxes. I also have a symbol that looks like what you would see as an angle indicator on a modern day print (Like a triangle with on rounded side) with an X in the middle of it. As many symbols as I've seen, I've not seen anyone speak of it yet.

I picked up a 1943 m-44 that has three adjustment marks and a counterbore 🧐

Enjoy your videos but it would be great if you could temporarily white the markings. They are difficult to see.

I've an old 91/30 with the Russian eagle and an Austrian capture mark. Can't recall which mark, there are so many on it. Also has SA in a square, which means at one time it was captured by Finland ? Sadly, the barrel is horribly rusted inside with deep pitting. I have a replacement barrel with excellent bore but haven't the $$ at the moment to have it swapped.
