Agreed. Laporta knew the club was in financial straits and had a Manager willing to pay his own way to come there and manage when they had no money. Even after Messi left. Instead of supporting that Manager, Laporta let his ego get in the way, made a pissing contest with him, fired him and brought in an inexperienced Manager he felt compelled to justify, by mortgaging the club's future to give him over 250m Euros to spend.

I've said this before and I'll say it again; Barcelona should concentrate and try to solve their own problems first before blaming the referees and VAR for their demise.

@@BarcaFan1899I guess we need another season to see if that was a one time thing, because as I recall, Barcelona were grinding out 1-0 wins with an incredible defensive performances, far outperforming their XG and Real Madrid far underperforming their XG. So we will see.

To be honest with or without his announcement about leaving Barcelona, did you really think that they had a chance of winning something this season. After he announced that he was leaving Barcelona in January, all of a sudden the team was playing better they were making a late push for La Liga and there was a feeling that they could go all the way in the champions league as they had a favorable bracket to get to the final. Many people were convincing Xavi to have a change in heart and stay at the club. They’ve lost 3 out of their last 4 games even before changing his mind to stay at the club their season was already over following back to back losses to PSG and Real Madrid respectively in the champions league and La Liga. Girona have beaten them home and away this season and Real Madrid has already clinched the title. By the time they had an upturn in form, the title race in the league was already over and they never really had much of a chance to win the champions league, this was a silver lining and Barcelona fans can keep blaming injuries VAR referees etc, what they need to worry about is resolving their own problems and stop whining about refs and coming up with excuses. Nothing was gonna change for them even when they were playing better because they’re inconsistent and they can’t deliver in big games.

If a team has to depend on a 36 year old striker the whole season, if there are players like Ferran Torres, Sergi Roberto, Oriel Romeu, Cancelo, still playing regularly, it says there is something wrong with this club. In professional football there is no space for emotional attachments. The club pays you and you play for them. Saying he is from La Masia and he should be our captain and hang on there until he turns 60 is redicukes. A club to win in modern football should have a ruthless mentality from top to the bottom together with quality players and a coach who is courageous and unbiased.

He has Lewa, Yamal, Pedri, FDJ, Gundo, Christensen, Kounde, Araujo, Cancelo, MATS, etc. and you say that? Give Pep or Luis Enrique this squad and they would be on the verge of winning the treble. Xabi Alonso’s squad ON PAPER is nowhere near Barca’s squad, but the thing that Leverkusen has is a great manager to lead them.

Seriously though, I think Xavi is taking on a lot of risk on his coaching career by staying in Barca for a bother year. Barca have no assets to get him quality talent next year. They got leva who seems to be at the twilight of his career, you don’t have a true forward otherwise. You are heavily relying on Yamal. Your defense has made some bad mistakes but seems like you’re stuck giving the same mins to the same players. All that, and you’re asked to compete with a Madrid side who may be getting better next year if sign Mbappe. You’re only silver lining is the return of Gavi and Pedri who seem quite immature. If I’m Xavi, I am primed to be sacrificed as the scape goat next year, and the club seem ready to not back you up.

There were reports of players not being satisfied with the training methods and drills, which was hushed up quickly. I bet senior players like Gundogan and Lewandowski are not very pleased with Xavi, since they've played under better, more experienced managers.
