Does this tool really work? Rehook Tyre Glider

Спорт

Does the Rehook Tyre Glider really work like advertised? In today's video we kind of figure this out. In my limited testing with a 29 inch WTB tire it work great getting the tire off and back on with ease. The road bike tire was another story. I think with more practice that result would've been the same. The weird and awkward angle of the actual tire removal part got in the way and I resorted back to normal tire levers. As far as road bike tires does it work? That is unknown as this point. But for MTB tires this worked surprisingly well and I will continue to use this tool throughout next year!

Used it tonight with Rene Hearse Fleecer Ridge tires - this tool is a dream!! Tire levers are a thing of the past. If you don't own one - don't even think about it - buy it!

I used the Tyre Glyder just yesterday for the very first time and I used it on a roadbike. This piece is an absoute game changer the tyre went off and on like a breeze. What you did wrong in the vid with taking it off is that it is crucial to get bot walls of the tyre off the beat, that is mandatory for this tool to work properly and then you'll see that it works like a dream.

I’ve watched maybe 6 reviews on this tool. Your review is the best, most honest and most realistic review. You show exactly, up close, how this tool is supposed to be used. I can see right away that your observations are correct. It may be perfect for a MTB tire/rim, but it is too large for a road tire/rim. Some road tire/rim connections are very tight and the lip on this lever is just too big. I’ve been using the Pedro’s levers for 12 years now and I will stick to that. Thank you for your review. It made a difference for me.

I’ve been using these tyre gliders for about 6 months on my ICE recumbent trike with 20” Schwalbe Big Ben and Marathon Plus tires. I think they work great and I no longer have any use for regular tire levers.

Try the Crankborthers Speedier lever. It's similar to this one with a more traditional tire lever design

Great review. The tool seems a little finicky and gimmicky TBH, but I’m sure it’s pretty trick in certain situations, I wonder if it could help in a Cush core instal.. Anyhow, for the most part, I’ve done most tire removal/installs by hand only; the tire bead centered on the rim is key for hand only instal. There was the exception Double down aggressor on my Transition patrol that needed a tire lever though, that one was a freaking nightmare.

It does seem a bit gimmicky...I'll just have to use it over a longer period of time to get my final impression. If I ever do CushCore this year I can test this to see if it helps with the install at all.

I don't remember if you have the new Blackbird rims on the Ripmo or the older Ibis S35. I would test it this winter before you depend on it. I doubt it will work on Blackbird since the beadwall is wider than normal rims to prevent pinch flats. Both Blackbird and the S35 use the Stans Notubes BST design which may also be an issue for that tool. I've only dealt with one pair of Maxxis tires so far, they were pretty easy to remove and put back on my S35's. I'll be watching for how it turns out. Great review/overview of this tool!

Yeah the build came with a newer Blackbird rim I think on the front and the old one on the rear. I'll test it out and maybe I might have to stick with a more traditional lever

shitiest 'tool' ever. I think it's advertised for people, who never undo the tyre. You can essentially do the same with any tool you just damaging your tyre and potetially carbon wheels, if applies. And all of that just not to have do trivial maneuver for 1/2 of tyre length. And just by looking at it - if you try to do this with some harder road tyres, like tyre for rollers, this thingie will break.
