@@HiddenXperia dual wielding was completely viable contrary to what a lot of people at the time believed. the smg spiker combo is the quickest ttk in the game. loads of weapons were really effective situationally. the ar was literally a 1.5 second kill plus a melee. the magnum wasn't even that bad either, the problem was the hit registration eating shots. then you look at Halo 1, the pistol can literally kill you in just over one full second. in Halo 1, double shots were so easy to do consistently if you knew how that the br totally dominated everything. as for the equipment of Halo 3, it was an innovative edition that could benefit the whole team (man cannon, health station, bubble shield). the focus on projectiles rather than hitscan weapons made balancing weapon ranges much more fair, not to mention the lack of double shot glitches making the balance better. on the other hand for Halo 3 maps, there were loads of trick jumps that made map traversal faster if you put in the effort.

This is something I really needed right now. I'm really happy you enjoyed the mod so much!! I've been wanting to update this mod, and my Reach mod, to improve things across the board, but I need to wait till 343 provides some means of preventing mod work of Halo 3 being lost from updates. But you've given me some much needed motivation to work on releasing the next update of my Halo CE Rebalanced mod! Thanks.

@@combativeThinker Military shot guns don't use chokes so the shot pattern would be pretty big. That being said you still have a point. You could hunt without a choke but it would be a lot harder than needed.

@@BoviDaze LUL anything under 100M is SHORT range. Modern Assault rifles are rated for combat up to 300-500Ms and snipers are up to 1000-1500Ms. The last part of the warthog run in CE was 1000 meters, that's how far a modern sniper is expected to hit and kill targets. The longest recorded sniper kill was 3.5km. Only pistols and smgs are designed to be used under in closer quarter situations often depicted in games.

@@BoviDaze "Effective range" of a shotgun is generally considered to be up to 50 yards (150 feet), so like half a football field. Much longer range than in most video games. They can be deadly further than that, but the spread past that is usually considered too unpredictable.

The faster vehicles making the AI worse at driving feels appropriate for the Brutes. Whenever I saw one I always kinda thought that a real world version of it would call the Orks from Warhammer 4000 to mind for anyone watching them.

"Bungie decided to sayy that the sniper had such a fast projectile speed that it literally passed through the flood without any real damage, I decided to make the sniper weak against flood but not as weak as ce, in ce the sniper did 5% damage with each shot to an enemy that had like 120 body vitality with like extra 60% from the difficulty spike, so I decreased the health spike to only 100% and not 160 also the sniper was amped from 5% to 20% witch makes halo ce combat forms go down with like 3-5 shots" - Alex Luca

Which they don't in vanilla do you even use the plasma pistol primary fire in vanilla I know I don't, only pick it up to drop a brutes shields or disable a vehicle, which is boring... and in vanilla Halo 3 I never ever pick up the spiker now in this mod it is useful unique and fun to use.

A note about the magnum having extreme recoil: As a shooting enthusiast who can one-hand a .44 Mag, this adds a nice little touch of realism to a gun called a "magnum." Rapid firing a .44 mag with one hand and keeping rounds on target is a challenge.

100%! it is a TRAVESTY that you didn’t get to fight with Zealots and Ultras!! I genuinely think it was just laziness from bungie!! it wouldn’t of been difficult to even just have the Zealots and Ultras have the standard Combat harnesses/helmets etc. All they would’ve had to do was colour their armour to their respective colours and increase their shield strength greatly & give/spawn them with a sword mostly. (or have them pull out their sword and roar if a brute gets too close, like halo 2 [since assets were reused from 2 anyway])

I’ve used his rebalance for every campaign they’re available for. They’re so good and feel so much better to me.

@@tonythegreat4275 You may not like the library, as per the standard of the level, but to me, the mod's addition of flood shields and tendency to pop carriers much, much quicker gave every flood level this.... frenetic and primal energy that can only be appreciated once you come to learn and abuse the new flow combat has been granted. They're in many ways more rapid and formidable, but also fairly squishy, which is why I say approach the Library with only the unheralded fact that combat with these devilish, ravenous monsters will probably soil your pants if you can't strafe or manage situations proficiently. Of course, this shouldn't hold you off from the rest of the mod, its a blast, but just a forewarning, if you'd need to bump your difficulty down a little, don't quiver at that thought, please, the mod is top-notch quality.

This mod makes you feel almost like you are actually on the battlefield

Yeah I wish that the mcc on Xbox was like the Skyrim special edition with access to a select group of ported mods that grows as more are ported but unfortunately It doesn’t yet and my pc probably couldn’t run the mcc so I guess modding on halo is out of my reach but maybe someday we could play with mods on console, someday.......

If you can learn how to build a rig, it's like 500$ for a good rig - 680$ for a very good rig. Best decision I ever made. The mods and right to repair has just reinforced that. EVGA can help you get good prices on parts and you can find different sites that tell you if all the parts you want will work together. Finally, try to get around 120-144 for Monitor refresh rate. Anything higher is unecessary. Good luck boyo.

lol, touche. Just never liked recoil in the original trilogy and in H5 when they tried to add it to the BR. In the OT the only gun that had it was the SMG so it felt kinda out of place, and H5's BR's attempt at it was reaaaaaally bad lol

@@HiddenXperia idk, i felt it was fine, even when playing with a controller it was pretty manageable and, honestly, i rather have recoil with a predictable pattern over some stupid 'mechanic' like bloom when it comes to balancing weapons. One can be countered by proper pacing and skill, the other requires a bit of pacing but no skill will ever eliminate the RNG factor from it.

Iconic as usual

I remember when the game was fairly new I spent so long in high school beating halo 3 solo on legendary over and over, each time with more skulls. I recall several times getting to a checkpoint near the end of a level and not being able to beat that area even after hours of throwing myself at it. So eventually I would conclude that the only way forward was to redo the whole level in order to start that area with power weapons or a detached turret going into that checkpoint. I was committed, and loved it the whole time

brute plasma rifles having burst fire makes a lot of sense to me, kinda like how in W40K, the weapons used by Ogryns (big, hulking, brutes, basically), have burst limiters to prevent them from expending their entire magazine too quickly. i imagine Brutes, caught in the heat of the moment, might accidentally fire their entire plasma rifle's charge knowing how they are.

I’ve been waiting for this mod review for sooo longgg!! By the way, you forgot about the ODST’s and how each of them has a certain colour on their arm indicating what type of weaponry they specialize in.

I am speed Its such a hard choice between CE and halo 3's campaign, certain aspects of both are so top tier even without the changes

I love this mod so much. Ruby's rebalance is what i play when i just wanna play halo with a fresher feel to it. one of my favorite change was to the plasma pistols. Bringing them back to their CE power levels. but the elites being more present is definitely jussssssssssst a bit more favorite

What would be absolutely amazing is if 343 picked this up and included it for the console. They can call it Halo 3: Ruby Edition. They could add it to the Master Chief Collection as a $20-$30 DLC, (Portion of the sales need to go to Ruby for his hard work). It would release exclusively for Halo 3 campaign. As much as I love the mods I think some balance, testing and tweaking would be required for the Multiplayer experience.

An easy solution to the idea of not being able to tell enemy elites from friendly would be to put like a little hud icon above them. If it clutters to much make them really small, or make it so the reticle always highlights green no matter the distance as long as you can see them.

I think adding the halo 2 shot gun speaks volumes to our love of the other games weapon variants. This is a good idea that can be used well in halo games for example, a military installation is bound to have different models or types of weapons from varying times.

A couple of cool things that you missed is that AA Wraiths no longer blow up when no ones in them meaning you can freely drive them once the driver has been killed. And Coop Arbiter and Elites now have purple hud unlike master chief which gives me Halo 2 vibes.

I've found all the "skull" guns. Here's a complete list, though you may wish to discover them for yourselves: On Sierra 117, you get the M6D (CE) magnum, followed by the legendary E3 2003 Halo 2 Battle Rifle, complete with no ammo counter and semiautomatic fire only. On Crows Nest, you get the MA5B (Halo CE AR), and a "normal" Brute Plasma Rifle later. On Tsavo Highway, you get the CE Sniper Rifle. On the Storm, you get the CE Fuel Rod gun. On Floodgate you can get the H2 Shotgun and H2 SMGs. On the Ark, is the [REDACTED] Gun (:P) and then the MA5B once again. On The Covenant, you get the E3 Halo 2 BR again. The IWHBYD Skull isn't replaced by a gun though, instead it gives you a message, saying a legendary weapon was on the previous level. On Cortana, you get the H2 Shotgun again as mentioned in this video, and on Halo you get the CE Magnum once more.

23:07 the grunts are no joke either on, same with Halo 2 rebalanced is they catch you with no shields and your pants down they will make quick work of you I remember hiding behind cover waiting for my sheilds to recharge and a grunt major ran up on me and beamed me down, it made my jaw drop but I laughed and thought to myself, this is how they should of been in vanilla especially on legendary 1 grunt can whoop yo abs if your not aware and I love that!!

I hope 343 takes note of this campaign mod, especially what the mod author did with the Shade Turret. Seriously, we NEVER get to use the Shade in Halo despite it being in every game. _Halo: Infinite_ is the exception, where it was actually beefed up enough to be useable. The changes to the vehicles seem a bit over-the-top, especially the Prowler. I would take a more minimalist approach by making the turret the same type of gun as the Chopper.

before this mod I never realized that there was a dozen brute ranks. there was so little difference that I thought it was just: Minor-captain-gold captain-chieftan (and then stealth brutes) I didn't even know that brute ultras were a thing

I honestly always thought the lack of elite allies in vanilla halo 3 was a crime

The fact that this mod allowed for some Grunts/Unggoy to fight alongside the Humans and Elites/Sangheili is a nice addition, especially when taking into account that in Halo 2, they fight alongside the Arbiter all the way until the end of the game. Now if this mod included a few allied Hunters/Mgalekgolo (for the sake of continuity), we'll be gold.

The flare is amazing, I posted a clip throwing it down the hallway on the way out of Crow's Nest and killed all the grunts and drones.
