Great video and I agree with you! I'm not feeling the sneakers at all, but it does give people who really want the Kobe 5s, they can buy these instead. Sadly, Nike's sneakers look alike and they're boring.

I just hate that Nike didn't give Kobe the Jordan treatment. It shows how mismanaged the brand has been the last few years.

They look like Kobe’s but they are really sharp regardless. Actually nicest Nike shoe currently on the market. I still think Kobe fans will pony up and pay premium, but I’ll stick to buying the Sabrina’s for a fraction of the cost.

A lot of people are doing the same which means fewer folks will be wearing Kobe's, when if Nike had made the Kobe line like Jordan you couldn't mention these new stars without mentioning Kobe. That's a legacy.

Nike can’t control the popularity of Kobe shoes on the secondary market. But they can control how much they appear to balance honoring Kobe and exploiting his memory. Obviously athletes today have been influenced by Kobe’s styling. I think the most impressive thing about the Sabrina is that they’re a gender neutral shoe that are spearheaded by a woman. The Sabrina 1 had crossover appeal to the NBA, and I’m sure the S2 will as well.

The 2 will be a stronger performer than the 1. Certain colors died hard in the 1, but sell through is strong on the 2 for this first drop. Nike should have still placed Ja, Demar and Sabrina and Caitlin under the Kobe line. Good comment.

@@archbyccb Thanks for the reply. I think one issue of putting other athletes under the Kobe banner is when Ja does stupid ish on the ‘Gram, does that then negatively affect Kobe’s legacy. At least with Jordan, one can operate under the assumption that MJ vouches for the athletes under his name. Kobe doesn’t have that opportunity. Even if that is an unrealistic perception, perception has the tendency to become reality, and then you’re back at the question of tarnishing Kobe.

@@pt2k645 this is easily the best response I've read on this topic. Very thoughtful and it does pose the issue of behavior like Ja, but it also fits with Kobe's own redemption arc. Kobe's free agency and signing with Nike happened because of his issues in Colorado so a smart marketing team would find a way to place the redemption arc into the narrative. Good comment though!

@@enriquejacoby592 thanks. I've put a whole team in those this week. They love them. Also, I went through a bunch of non-Liberty WNBA game footage and hardly any people on other teams are wearing her shoes. Tons of dudes in the NBA did wear them though.
