I bought a new Titan Pro-4x in 2005. Still have it with 374,000 miles on it. It has been a great truck. Bought a 2016 Titan XD with Cummins Diesel. Over 150,000 miles on it with no real problems. Just need to maintain vehicles properly and they will last!!! I have friends with Fords and Chevy/GMC. Both have problems. Nissans are good vehicles.

The Titan doesn't really have a leg up on the competition in any particular thing, but it is a good truck and should sell much better than it does. I think they did a really good job on the Frontier redesign. Mid size truck buyers will be making a mistake if they don't give it a look before buying.

The Nissan Frontier Pro4x is probably one of the EASIEST TRUCKS to finance and get a good deal on. The Ford Ranger, The Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators and any of the F150, 1500 Sierra/Silverado and RAM 1500 trucks have gotten into silly season territory pricing-wise! You pretty much now have to be RICH in order to afford one of the those trucks! The Frontier though can be had pretty well loaded for $45,000 or even less! but the BEST thing about it is that Nissan dealers are DESPERATE for customers so if you are a 20-to-40's guy/gal in a decent trade, you can get some GREAT FINANCING DEALS on this truck. This truck is a BETTER off-roader than the full-size trucks and all you need is better tires (I like Goodyear Duratracs or Nitto Ridge Grapplers!) and you can get near Ford F150 Raptor off-road performance at a MUCH CHEAPER PRICE! The ONLY other truck that comes close in terms of price-versus-4x4-performance is the Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison Edition. So far for the 2021/2022 model years, in terms of PRICE and FINANCING for anyone in their 20's to 40's in a trade who need a GREAT combined daily driver AND weekend warrior/camping/fishing/hunting truck --- I say it's a toss-up between the Nissan Frontier Pro4x and the Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison Edition. V

I want to see a Frontier equipped with the Nismo Bilstein 6112 front shocks. Also, zipping those bolts out of the steps would take like 1 minute using a power tool and about 5 minutes with hand tools. And then you have at least some rocker protection. If they are attached to the body I might not want to drag the full weight of the truck over a rock on one of the rails, but they are better than nothing and good enough for most. I do like the simplicity of the 4WD system in the Nissan. Toyota seems to have gone crazy with tech, but they do a good job of marketing ATRAC and crawl control. Nissan does have ABLS which applies the brake to a slipping wheel to transfer torque to the other side. They just don't make a big deal about it and they don't have any selectable modes for it that make the system more aggressive off road. It does work, but the trick is you need to apply enough throttle for the wheel with low traction to spin, but you don't want to floor it. Put a Frontier on the rollers at opposite corners to see how it compares to the locking differential. Hell find a Tacoma and compare it to their system as well.

The issue though is they aren't going to push them to their limits and at 50% to 70% of their max capability both will cover the same ground. Both of those are good trucks. Toyota has the huge aftermarket support and following but up until the point where you have to start modifying them anyway they will both do what any normal buyer needs. After that Toyota has the parts available in mass quantities where the Nissan after market is there but much smaller.

The issue is their design. You can have side steps that can also be strong enough for use as a rock rail. And without having the two individual steps that catch everything. On my wrangler I have rock rails that act as a full length step. Make very short wife easily gets inside with them, and they also protect the body.

I will say if you put a higher octane In it I bet you get a tad more performance. has anyone tried this in their new Frontier? I never tried high test in any of my Nissan trucks 1989,Hardbody 1993 and my 2005 Frontier. loved The my 1993 with the power button. I squeaked almost 28mpgs on my 1993. my tip is put worrier bars on the back so the bed won't bent in the future. then I put a Pro Net on it and a tonneau cover, the one that folded. that tailgate weights a ton on the Frontier, witch isn't a bed thing! a lot of people talk about all the toys you get in other truck like trail control etc. , but if you don't drive off road you really don't need the extra toys I think and if it snows I just put in Fwd or low if need to crawl. what do you guys think? There really is no wrong answer I think, but it's nice to hear from your point of views. I'm just torn on what to buy come spring. The Ranger Fx421 ,The Gmc At4 long bed, Gmc Denali Fwd or the Frontier. Any thoughts?? Thank you. Brad

I was going to ask "Why install steps on the offroad versions of these vehicles", but I was then reminded that my good friend's wife made him add the predator side steps to his 4Runner TRD off-road because she thought the truck was too high. Now every time we hit the trails those things scrape like nobody's business. One day Mother Nature will do him right and take them off for him. ;)

I have been a Datsun / Nissan fan for many years owning a number of Z cars, infiniti's and even a "hardbody" truck back in the day. However, the Titan just doesn't do it for me. They are always years behind the competition on tech, engine options, etc.. The Nissan brass that decided not to build a production version of the Warrior concept blew it! Word is this will be the last year for the Titan. Nobody wants these and it makes sense why.
