This is a soft disclosure of the fact that Satan, via CERN, has "augmented reality" and is now controlling our world through false signs and wonders aka quantum "magick" - which is really energy stolen from the Void through technology and being used to shift our entire reality into a narrative controlled by Cain and his cult.

Prior to Digital Circus, I was unfamiliar with any of Glitch Productions' previous animated projects, so I went into DC with no expectations. I was actually taken aback by the animation and how fluid and smooth it appeared, and I was even more surprised by the voice acting. Normally, when I hear voice acting in online fan animations, comic dubs, or voice overs, etc., the VA overacts and the performance does not sound natural to me, making it difficult to immerse myself in what I'm watching. DC didn't have that. Everyone sounds natural and authentic, like they're having fun, which is a good sigh of amazing voice acting. The characters' expressions are diverse and fit their personalities well they're so cartoony and full of life. I appreciate the return of more cartoony styles and facial expressions in recent years especially with a lot of online animations, after years of seeing anime's copy and paste expressions this feels like a breath of fresh air. I love the concept of the world with characters being stuck in a point and click style adventure game and watching them overcome the madness that surrounds them. But that's about it for what I loved. The comedy got a few chuckles from me, and the glitch effects were extremely well done, but other than that, I thought it was just ok, but for some reason, it just didn't click for me. Maybe because of how much I'm desensitized to characters going through existential crisis. It has been a massive trend with animation as of late. It is a pilot, so there's more to be expanded on, but I'd give Digital Circus a 10/10 for visuals, 4/10 for story, and 8/10 for its characters.

Like make the character a jerk which insults people, manipulates people and even maybe does physical stuff to them (Like Jax putting centipedes in Agatha's room or breaking mask guy's happy mask) for no other reason than they're an asshole and all the characters just gotta deal with it because they can't really leave. I feel like Jax could actually be a pretty good candidate for that because while usually 'chilled out mellow' characters can sometimes be annoying to the other characters, I feel like in the pilot Jax sorta deliberately tries to make other people suffer.

I'm in my 30s, and I loved the humor of this series, so I don't think it's an age thing. It's just a preference thing. XD And, my personal favorites was Jax and Ragatha, with Kinger being a sleeper-runner up as he's gotten me chuckling more then I expected.

I just knew this show would be absolutely decimated by the internet and its kinks when I saw Jax, Caine, Kingler, and Pomni. A clown, people who have traits of the tumblr sexymen and then a insane person, the favorite group the internet loves.

Honestly I really liked the pilot! I was so hyped, I honestly think I like it better than Helluva Boss, sorry Vivz. I will agree that if it's going for horror, it is not it. I see it as more of a comedy with a hint of darkness. EDIT: Kinger is my spirit animal. Also the reason there is so much Jax stuff is because the VA was literally like, "yeah, you can draw porn of me"

Yeah you got to separate the fans from the show sometimes. As someone who has been in a lot of fandoms some of this stuff is standard issue unfortunately but it doesn’t stop me from enjoying the show! I think one reason the fandom has blown up so much in such little time is because the shows humor and themes is tailored for people who grew up on the internet

I don't consider this as "Mascot Horror". That "Genre", if you can call it that, primarily revolves around the villain being recognisable and marketable. A "Mascot" of sorts. Earlier indie horror games such as Slender or the first Five Nights at Freddy's game contained traces of this, but the genre as we know it did not come into play until later. Five Nights at Freddy's was rooted in nostalgic horror. Its scares were tied directly to how similar they were to Chuck E Cheese and peoples twisted memories of those same locations. However, these parodical characters took on a life of their own, becoming recognisable, marketable and popular outside of their association with the real life stuff they were inspired by. They became mascots. Others have since seen how popular and marketable this can be, and made games structured entirely around their marketable villains. Bendy and the Ink Machine, it's sequel The Dark Revival, Poppy Playtime, Garten of Banban, Hello Neighbor etc. There are some games that are lumped in with mascot horror despite only focusing on childhood nostalgia for their theming. Games like Tattletail (based on Furbies) and My Friendly Neigborhood (based on Sesame Street) come to mind. The Amazing Digital Circus is a love letter to old video games and CG graphics, with recognisable characters that each pull from familiar and nostalgic aesthetics. Although the wild west on the internet will be naturally drawn to the striking and expressive characters just like they have for Helluva Boss, Undertale or even the Onceler from Illumix's "The Lorax", these designs were clearly designed for the art of the show first. And finally, on the show's comedy, pacing and styling, this show feels like it was created by people born and raised on the internet, for an audience to match. For this reason, I'd give this show an age rating of 15-25. That's the demographic that will understand this project and its "Gen Z Humor" the most.

really liked DIgital Circus, but I totally understand that it's not everyone's thing. That being said, even if it's considered overhyped, I LOVE Gooseworx and her content so I'm so happy one of her first major projects took off like it did! I hope this helps her turn it into a full series. Her films are my fave. Criticsm is important, though! It helps improve the show if it does get picked up

Kinger asking if [I can't remember the name, but the character who gets eaten by the Gloink queen] encountered a game show inside is a reference to Gooseworx's short Little Runmo, where the titular character gets eaten and has to play a game show in the creature's stomach

I think my main gripe was that so many of those fish eye lens anime face moments for Pomni just don’t feel totally earned emotionally to me? It felt like it expected me to care like,,, at all,, that she was feeling so overwhelmed that she’s dissociating, but idk any of these characters. I don’t care about them, I’m not invested in them yet, so it just felt like it was trying a little too hard to be like “hello fellow kids, existential crises, am I right? ;D” I’ve seen enough existential crisis and dissociating jokes before that it just felt a little over the top and awkward. It took me out of the moment more than anything else. I think the show’s got potential for sure, so whoever the target demographic is, I hope they enjoy. We’ll see if it’s smth I end up liking, but sadly, I’m not too terribly gripped by it yet. The character designs and animation are great though, so I’ll give them credit there.

The writing is hit or miss with the humor, but it got at least a couple chuckles out of me and I'm early 20s so it's not the worst. I actually liked the writing of this better than a lot of the writing in Helluva Boss, and it's a pretty cool concept. I don't care for Jax much but I can see his character being written better later on.

What I haven’t heard enough of is the meme of when Gangle is speaking to Kinger, who isnt focused, and when he looks at Gangle he lets out a yell. Reminds me of The Office with Dwight and the blonde chick meme.

The oversaturated colour-scheme wasn't chosen to be "cartoony," it was chosen to invoke the early years of 3D animation. Go look at Pixar's first animated shorts from the 90s for examples of this. Everything is bright, shiny, and sterile in a way that feels distinctly artificial. That "overbearing" sensation is extremely intentional, as emphasized by the shift to more realistic lighting and colour seen in the office segments. It's a pro, not a con.

At this point when it comes to online series in particular, I stay in my own lane. I love The Amazing Digital Circus and I’m gonna enjoy it. Now in terms of the fandom, I’m gonna avoid it like a goddamn plague. When it comes to my personal enjoyment towards the show, I love the amount of effort you can see that was put into it. And it gives me a sense of almost like liminal spaces, which I like. The cons are completely understandable though, not everything is for everyone, which I wish more fandoms understood-

Considering I just stumbled upon this pilot not knowing anything about it, here’s my take. I liked it, it’s actually an original idea and I like the mystery surrounding it, I liked the characters and I do agree the humor could be worked on. While it was very engaging and entertaining I felt the humor needs work. But they nailed the world building and gave some nuggets of lore and Caine knowing more than he’s letting on(Jax as well). It’s a very solid foundation to build on. If they work on the humor, and character interactions, plus fleshing the characters out(maybe give some clues to their human lives, or start remembering who they were) it can turn into some great storytelling.
