Some strength professionals are on the side that if you don't play Sand volleyball, then why would you train in it.
One major aspect of our training philosophy is to get more muscles firing. That way, you can produce more force. When you train in the sand, the small stabilizer muscles are forced to work, which in turn strengthens them.
When your small foot, ankle, and knee stabilizers are firing, it helps your balance, coordination, and force output.
Another benefit is that the body recovers quickly from sand training and its low impact.
We have used sand training for over a decade and like the results from doing it just a few times a year.
