You got a great sound. Reeds are fascinating. I play 5's on various Saxscape mouthpieces from .102-.118. I find the resistance is where the magic is. I experiment with smaller sizes but always return to the larger sizes. I' be been diggin' ATG as well.

Thanks very much for the comment... and my apologies for the late reply, this one must of slipped passed my radar. There is definitely something to be said about the resistance. I think players often put on a slightly harder reed and give up because it doesn't work for them immediately. you have to kind of work up to it and then evaluate what your getting out of it.

Haha... yes, noted. By nature I am very soft spoken... I will do my best, but I don't want to put on false enthusiasm either... it's a fine line between enthusiasm and snake oil salesman. Appreciate your support and comment!

I just got a xaphoon. My first try at a reed instrument. It ships w/ a 2.5. High notes are easy, but I struggle trying to play the lower notes. I get lots of blanks or squeaks down there, and my face muscles get tired really fast. Does this mean a lower reed strength would be better for now, or is it the reverse?

Very interesting! I'm tenor hobbyist and having difficulty with consistency in altissimo with a 2.5. I'm going to try a stiffer reed. Where are you based? On parle francais aussi!!!

Worth a shot trying a bit stiffer. reed, you'll have to let us know how it worked out for you. The oracles location is a closely guarded secret, but he does appreciate your watching and commenting.
