    For the leg armor, wear 2 belts. One for holding up legs and pants, one for pouches.

    Not a bad idea. Steel armor is typically suspended from cords attached to shirt and pants, but one might not want to attach cords to all the pants one might want to wear with the leg armor. A dedicated belt that would go with any other clothes you wear would be great.

    If they are hanging the right height, the belt around the though only has to be long enough so it can't twist around.. The strap is there to keep them laying on the right place but shouldn't give any super or hold out up at all. If you're fighting, the last thing you want is for your movement to be slowed or stopped.

    I just wish someone would do a Reckoning like event in the Fall season so we can show off more of our seasonal outfits/armor and gear as well as get to enjoy that amazing feeling of rapping up in furs/heavy cloaks and have a drink by a fire pit with friends. Plus one of my friends can't be out in the heat for too long for medical reasons :(

    Whenever we think about running a game, we usually like the idea of it being in the fall. Spring/Summer dances WILDLY between super hot and super rainy. When we HAVE had early spring games, we found the colder weather much easier to deal with and it lets you wear a lot more with your costume.

    Totally agree. It's so much easier to make a costume warmer rather than cooler. I just got back from Drachenfest US and it was 90° and humid all weekend. I ended up not wearing 50% of my outfit because I was already suffering in my minimal kit.

    Regarding Leg armor suspension: Don't suspend them in front, but on the side. That way, it sits parallel with the hip joint and the lenght won't change.

    Tip for lace-up boots in mud, bring 2 plastic grocery/trash bags! Just slide them over your boots when you go into your tent and slide them off as you leave! Keeps all the mud inside the bag and keeps your tent clean while still being fast for when you just need to grab something!

    Ok. So as someone who has had to wear armor on the regular. The shoulder straps connected to the belt makes a huge difference in being able patrol all day. But to counter act the pull of something connected to your thighs, means you NEED to strap from the bottom up. So put your thigh armor on first where is comfortable, then stand up straight, and connect the shoulder straps. If you uncomfortable pulling on your shoulders slightly adjust your shoulders harness one notch at a time until you feel slight comfortable pressure on your shoulders. Which does mean you might have to build up your Traps and core to feel more comfortable without the chest armor. Those are more..... Three, four, copper pieces for thoughts.

    For your harness, try taking some of the weight of your belt on your hips. Steel armor is made to divide the weight between your hips and shoulders to make it easier to carry all day. Or possibly build the shoulder straps into the chest/back pieces!

  • @midorimidori1850
    @midorimidori185028 күн бұрын

    Well done on your boot choice. They are full grain leather and the construction states it has a steel shank, which makes you have a ton of support for your arches. The steel shank works by doing more of the heavy lifting as you take a step instead of your arch trying to keep the rest of the boot itself straight and only bending at the toes. It also seems to be Goodyear welted construction, which the description of the product mentions somewhat and isn’t just shown in the pictures. Due to that Goodyear construction these boots can be resoled by a cobbler. I give these boots 10/10.

    I'd been thinking about making a hanging wrap pouch like the one on your leather kit, but wasn't sure how well they grip things that extend out, that mallet doesn't look like it's going anywhere though, I'll definitely give it a try after this. For the harness aggitating your shoulders could you use SB buttons on the front and back of the chest section of the armour, so you'd have secondary anchor points for the belts on the chest piece itself? So then you can adust between how much of the weight is on the harness vs the armour, You could do the same with buckles directly on the armour I suppose, and just make basic secondary straps from the armour to the belts.. might help disperse the weight a little more. Can't wait to see how you resolve it. no doubts you will. Glad everthing held up. Great video guys, 😁.

    You might want to consider adding padding to the underside of the shoulder parts of the harness, that might make it work easier. Adding a thin layer of softer foam with a very soft, thin leather to contain it before stitching it to the shoulders works well for that sort of thing. For the chest part, add some bandolier stuff there to add utility and padding With the thigh armor, rather than a keeper, adding a second button would work great for that kind of thing

    what you need for those thigh protectors is an arming belt, that carries the weight of the thigh pieces but is unattached to the kidney belt. That way it's not all pulling down on your shoulders, and it can move separately from the kidney belt. Great job though!

So design ideas are solid it’s just the materials you have to make sure you are using good stuff. Not sure if the specific brands you mention when you do are paid sponsorships but based on the results being so different I get the feeling they are.
