I love looking at the data behind the scenes that runs the infrastructure that no one thinks about. I am a big train fan and I found how to capture and view all the communication between the locomotives and the ground devices and the base control towers connected to the national rail networks It is amazing once you get all the information on what each bit represents. And there is so much going on that no one working on the railroads ever think about. Even the people who install the equipment don't know what they are doing and don't see the data Truly mind-blowing

My question is why does Microsoft need to collect all this telemetry data? Linux Mint is able to improve its product without having to constantly collect my activities. When I was on Windows 10, I know that a lot of it was set up to use Microsoft's apps and it had to allow access to various things to do that. You could uninstall/turn off Cortana and Skype (through CCleaner) which was nice. I just think Microsoft lost my interest when they tried to move away from a "power user" type setup like XP and 7 and more to a "mobile operating system" like 8.1, 10 and now 11 with all the services tied in, constant connectivity and these AI/assistant things.

@@mugwump-bk7os Telemetry data has very little that would be worth buying. It's just their new and "improved" version of early warning and early optimization. The former is a replacement for the old crash dumps that you sent when things went south, and was focused on what app x was doing when it went bad. With TD you have a wider view of everything that was going on BEFORE app x went bad. With some modeling you can figure out if it's just some spurious event or if something correlates with another, which can tell you early on if some underlying factor is affecting other things. And not limited to crashes either. If you detect slowdown consistently correlated with other things, either it's a) normal and expected or b) abnormal and should be looked at. This will be part of early optimization, which also includes things like access patterns. If 90% of people have a certain access pattern, that's the critical path you want to optimize, not the other 10%. Knowing how (most) people do things let's you better allocate resources to the "right stuff".

You can try to stop everything if you want, but run Win10 in a VM on Linux, and you can see there's a backdoor. You can't tell in Windows itself (it claims there's no traffic), but you can see it downloading who knows what in the Linux system monitor. I'm sure Win11 is the same. @Liron Segev I have heard on other KZread channels that Microsoft has released Windows updates which change settings so that Microsoft can collect data again. I suppose it means that each time a Windows update is completed, we users have to go back into these settings to make sure that nothing has changed; and if it has, to change it back to the way each of us wants it. I can probably dig up the other KZread channels and their videos explaining/relaying this. For now though: so far as you are aware, is this accurate i.e. does Microsoft indeed do this? Perhaps not with every Windows update but with some? Thanks in advance for any information/response provided.

It's sad that people have become conditioned to think that constant network activity is normal. Windows wants to check your location for things like the time and language settings? OK, connect to the server, check it, and then disconnect. Unless you're actively connecting to sites, there is absolutely no need for Windows to be making constant connections to the net. When your computer is sitting idle, your network activity should be ZERO. When you connect a printer, does your computer just randomly print stuff? When you connect a monitor, does it just randomly send images to the screen? So why should it be normal for there to be constant network activity in the background? It's like people today thinking that programs needing 16-32GB of memory is normal. No, it needs that much because nobody today bothers to include any kind of memory management in their programs. They just assume that memory is infinite. This is like turning on the tap to fill the sink with water, and then going out to a movie without turning it off.

Short answer.. YES...all of above. And Gov uses them to collect data too. Everything is being spied on No matter how secure you make it. Also the chip already has backdoors built into chip. From the factory.

I noticed ssd was not recognised when I checked diskpart. It gave me a msg about virtual machine . I called geek squad they said it’s supposed to boot using unless I created the virtual . That confused me can anyone elaborate please. Also does anyone else have keyboard recording software installed I noticed that’s new key setting is in registry?

They also say Recall feature uses on device NPU, guess what, you can run Recall without an NPU... its not a feature but literally a bug, rather an intentional bug

@@LironSegev Fair point. I think you articulating you highly recommend something and personally use it, even if its sponsored makes a huge difference and is far more convincing. Many YTers and influencers make sponsored videoes for gain, rather than authenticity and people who don't know you personally like to know its not a commercial as you just discribed. Ty

Appreciate you. We reject 95% of the sponsorship opportunities we get (you would be horrified at what comes in 😂). Our rule is simple: we always use and run the software/ device for at least a month first and ONLY if it meets our criteria AND we think the community will find value for it, only then we take it on.
