These videos always make me cry. Not out of sadness or happiness, but I think simply because they speak the truth to me. They'd make sense in a way that nothing else does.

What I learned: Enjoy the process. The point of life isn't only to survive at some job you hate. It's to love what you do.

old account Or do what you love... We forgot how to enjoy the process since we became conscious of our thought, and maybe that's why it can be somewhat difficult to relearn what we knew when we were like other animals...

Yeah, be happy now, not in a future some day when you have this or that. If you're not happy now you will never be happy because there only is now. The future is just imagination.

+Slave2PaperWithInkOn You've missed the point. The message is not trying to tell you what you should do (be happy and ignore suffering in the world) but rather that you should love WHATEVER you do. "Dance each step of [your] way". Whichever way you walk on.

@Slave2PaperWithInkOn While I appreciate your spirit and your energy, the way you've communicated your message - CAPs and parentheticals and quotation marks, et cetera - unfortunately reminds me of the person shouting their truths on a street corner when there's an orchestral quartet playing to an otherwise attentive crowd. Or the overly-enthusiastic Jehovah's Witnesses who arrive on your doorstep just when you're about to give your baby a bath and just...won't...go...away. Take your pick. : )

Slave2PaperWithInkOn You thinl to mutch about the negative aspects. Not everyone wants to be rich or have a goal since childhood to sell weapons. I bet even the arms dealers had a different dream of doing something else in life. Guess everyone should chase their own passion, even if it is on wall street or a truck driver.
Have been a student of Alan's for over 10 years along with other master thinkers. His zen way of seeing the world has helped me grow in many ways. At the point of my life now here in 2020 locked down due to a virus outbreak, and through many months leading up to today, I realized I was missing a true purpose in life which I thought I had. No my purpose was not pursuit of wealth or success or even happiness. To me my inner feelings told me my purpose was to make the most use of the creative power I was given, we were all given as human beings. That purpose served me for many years and it brought me happiness even in adversity but still I felt it was not enough. Now it finally clicked to me about his comparison to music. It's not even about being creative but it's about really savouring every note and every beat of your time in this song we call life. Thank you
The moral... Don't forget to sing, dance & be happy along life's journey.
Alan Watts is a King! i think that no one else has reached such a deep knowledge of life at all like he did... R.I.P. Alan
Sleeping at last - Saturn. what a wonderful song for this video.
Existence is lit
If more people listened to (and heard) the wisdom of Alan Watts the world woud be a better place. I know I'm a better person because of him.
Who in theit rightful mind would dislike the video... just sit back and listen to the music play in life

@@thareealgee Hi, it's from the song it's played on the video: Saturn by Sleeping at last. When the video ends, it's the part that follows: "I'd give anything to hear, You say it one more time That the universe was made, Just to be seen by my eyes"
@horizon5677

it can correlate to the point of the video, life is about living, that's it, no need to search for a greater meaning that itself. Make the meaning in the living. Doing things with meaning. If it brings true meaning for you, it will probably give meaning to your surroundings as well, and society at large. JUST TO BE SEEN, life is about experiencing, JUST FOR THAT SAME PURPOSE.

@@thareealgee :oo Thank you! I saw it one time in a book about the Shadow, I think, from Carl Jung, and I really liked the meaning "In Classical Greek metanoia meant changing one's mind about someone or something. When personified, Metanoia was depicted as a shadowy goddess, cloaked and sorrowful, who accompanied Kairos, the god of Opportunity, sowing regret and inspiring repentance for the "missed moment". This conventional portrayal continued through the Renaissance. "The elements of repentance, regret, reflection, and transformation are always present in the concept of metanoia to some degree, ..."

Alan watts is BRILLIANT !!!
That song... "Saturn" and the other one, absolutely perfect. Sleeping at Last will always hold a place in my heart as the most personal and transformative music that i discovered (along with Alan Watts), at the most critical time of my life and helped to initiate my Awakening... wow.
thank the heavens for Alan watts Alan watts you are heaven sent God bless you
I was living to retire until I watched this video. Listening to this has since changed my life. I now try to play in the present and experience fun today while I can, instead of worrying about the future.
The ending was so beautiful. Especially with 60fps!
guys you need to make videos more often! please
This video will speak out to your heart and that's why it gets emotional. Your heart knows truth and this is the way it must speak to you. Follow your heart!

I cry every time. Every. Single. Time. I'm young and ready for things to move along so I can be my own person but older people tell me to stop "wishing my life away". I'm not really, I'm just wishing this PART away, because right now, life is so meaningless.

This is so beautiful....all those images and the music. The message is not surprising knowin A.Watts.Thank you.
The sad part is that I thought I always knew it, but when the talking part of the video ended and the song kicked in, I skipped through it to see if there's anything after it. There was nothing, I was just supposed to listen to the song.

not sure why this talk made me cry. Alan watts. you live on.

weird. He explained to detail about how i feel about the world. I love motorcycles and the thing about driving was always the journey, not the destination. I dont like how society is turning out. These days we use to mutch time on our social media, just like what I am doing right now!
I’m seeing this for the first time and it holds true. The way he explains it is the perfect analogy that I never could put words to
Video beautifully done. Alan Watts deserves no less than that. Thank You.

Sub titles would have made a wonderful presentation!!
At 1:15 it should say one doesn't make the end of the composition.. "the point of the composition" for some reason it got cut off.
he makes the same comparison as shopenhauer- of all the art forms, music is distinct in that it is not a representation but a direct copy of the will in itself
wow!!!!!
Most people are not ready to check out yet. If you love life there is no problem just dance with it. After all we are not significant, even the planet or galaxies is not.
God made us his Children with a purpose ,Once our purpose is done here on Earh our Breath of life returns to God and our bodies return to the dust .
Risk being seen...in all your glory.
Who cares if i die right now or in 60 years. Im just a grain of sand on a never ending beach. No balance in the world would be lost without me

Death is simply spiritual sleep.Stick with The Holy Trinity of the Bible and you will awaken to the Throne of Grace
this oddly cuts out a few words which confuses the meaning when he says "one doesn't make the end of the composition " you leave out "the point of the composition", which is vital to understanding his point.
Truth is cool :)
Don’t jus exist in this world but to actually live it.
It does not matter how fast you go to your destination, reaching the destination is what matters. But again what is real destination?
Yes...
It is Krishna, for He is Arjuna's charioteer. A brief mention in this confounded existence, but never alone. Nothing would occur, otherwise.

This experience is an involuntarily action, we're doing it but don't know how we are doing it. Like your heart beats. Why should I have to work my ass off or pay somebody else so that I can be an involuntary action? Simplicity was never supposed to be so difficult.

He doesn't understand what goes on in a senior center community. We don't go there to die!
I just wanna experience the beauty of the world but society doesn't let me.
We only need to look inside...
I like this comparison, but viewing life as a journey gives people something to look forward to in difficult times.
