People often confuse between Islam and the traditions of some Muslim communities. Quran is only religious scripture which has a chapter of the name of a woman - Mary the mother of Jesus Christ and a chapter called the women (chapter 4) and the chapter divorce; giving the woman the right to remain in the house after being divorced until she gets proposals from other men who wish to get married to her. The unfortunate husband has to pay for her maintenance all the while. There are hundreds of verses concerning the rights of women which no other religious scripture deal with. During the time of the prophet and the caliphs after him, women could give their opinions and be listened to whether in matters of peace, war, or other matters dealing with the well-being of the society. That was in the seventh century Women in the West could not give their opinions in matters of government until the 19th-century because they could not vote.

Emansipasi wanita itu sejak jaman rasullullah sudah ada...contoh paling extrime yaitu emansipasi wanita dalam perang... kisah istri abu sofyan yang memimpin para wanita-wanita ikut bertempur walau dibarisan belakang tapi melakukan / beradu pedang dengan lawan...kalau tertebas ya mati... Itu emansipasi wanita dijaman rasullullah... maka sebenarnya dalam pekerjaan apa pun , wanita bisa ikut serta / emansipasi... Adakalanya seorang lelaki melarang istrinya lebih mengurusi keluarga daripada bekerja tapi biasanya si lelaki ini mempunyai penghasilan yg cukup / berlebih itu hal biasa saja. Pada dasarnya islam tak pernah membatasi emansipasi wanita dalam hal apa pun... kalau ada suami yang melarang istrinya bekerja itu hanyalah himbauan yang kadangkala kata suami harus dipatuhi istri , ini biasa terjadi dinegara-negara yang makmur.... tapi jika si suami penghasilannya kurang atau tidak berlebih maka biasanya si istri juga bekerja...itu hal yang lumrah. Dimana pun bisa terjadi .... Jadi dijaman rasullullah sudah ada emansipasi wanita bahkan dalam hal paling extrime sekali pun maka dalam hal pekerjaan apa pun , islam tak pernah membatasi emansipasi wanita jika dalam hal kebaikan.
