Does Green Concealer Work? Covering Dark Circles Under Eyes

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Does Green concealer (color corrector) work? This video shows you how green color corrector concealer can help cover up red darkness and circles under eyes. I am not a make up artist but have had to deal with hereditary bad dark circles and bags for over 40 years! The struggle to conceal them is real, especially for my mature skin, but my latest technique seems to be working so I thought I'd share it with you as I know many of you struggle with the same problem. Hope this is helpful. Leave a comment below with the products you use to cover your severe dark circles and bags - we all want to know!!!!

I feel you so much. My under eye (which has had darkness since childhood and added bags since adulthood) is my constant struggle. My under eye discoloration is rather violet - honestly a combination of red, purple, and blue (oh so colorful!) and my skin tone is extremely pale. I look like a Zombie. I have tried peach, yellow, and green corrector under the eye (with very pale concealer on top) - to no avail. My current routine pretty much involves a different color correcter each day (again, none really help so I am on a constant quest for something better than the one the day before!), a concealer (currently vary between Colorescience Under Eye Corrector/Sunscreen in light and Fiera concealer in light), and either a dusting of Essence's brightening powder or another of my myriad of powders. Still questing for the Holy Grail combo...I, too, had hylauronic fillers in 2019. Not convinced they ever helped much, but possibly. Any helpful effect is long gone. I have toyed with lower blepharoplasty (which, honestly, might be the only true help), but am terrified of the procedure!

Hi Juliana, thank you so much for sharing your experiences with me and hopefully anyone else watching this. Sounds like we've both had to struggle with this all our lives - thank you genetics!!!! I'm so sorry you haven't found a miracle solution yet. All I can say is don't give up and hopefully you can find a combo that works for you. I like the colorscience for its sunscreen properties and that soothing metal applicator but the peachy corrector is too thin for me and doesn't correct well enough - the redness shows through too easily. And as for the blepharoplasty, do your research and find a reputable plastic surgeon you trust. I have a 5 year plan to hopefully get it then, but still not entirely sure it will be a miracle surgery. Thank you so much for watching! I appreciate it a TON!

I'm with you. I've had them my whole life. Unfortunately, I also passed that down to my children and grandchildren. I was in an abusive relationship years ago and a broken orbital socket was among many of the injuries I received. Now that eye has been more sunken in than the other, and the dark circles are now intense. I've tried every color of concealer and green works best for me. The best primer I've used (and use every day now) on my under eyes is Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser. It works great for crepey aging under eyes. I hope this helps and you are beautiful. Even with the dark circles. ❤

Hi Ray of Sunshine, I'm so sorry for what you went through but sounds like you are out of it and hopefully you are healing both inside and out. I will have to try that maybelline product. I am very crepey under the eyes from years of attempts to mask them with thick concealers. Thank you so much for your comment and I hope the sun shines bright on you now and always!

@MariaNicoleStyle Thank you! The sun is certainly shining brighter now! I, too, have the crepey under eyes. Between allergies and rubbing/itching/digging at my eyes.... NEVER drinking enough water, layering multiple products in hopes to cover my dark circles and falling asleep with makeup on. 😬😬😬😬 My dark circles are insane. The skin on top is red, but underneath the red is a purplish blue color. I'll be honest, for the most part, I've just said screw it and go without any makeup. 🤣 I figured there's no point in having great makeup everywhere else, only to have my under eyes look like the Walking Dead. 🤣🙄

This is such a good video, thank you! I have exactly the same eye issues as you, even down to the other kids at school having made comments like "what's wrong with your eyes?" (I'm 45 so that was a looooong time ago!) I've only recently bought a green concealer so was looking on here for videos on how to use it, that's how I found your vid. I thought I'd just put the green then the foundation, so this is great to see you putting the concealer over the top of the green, before foundation. I will definitely try this....when my severe eye-eczema clears up so I can wear makeup again :)

Hi Vikki, I'm so glad you found this helpful. I'm the same age but I feel like the skin under my eyes is atleast 20 years older. If you purchased this same green corrector, please note a little goes a long way. I applied way to much on this video, in hindsight. Thank you so much for watching and let me know your thoughts once you try your product and if you'd recommend it.

I have suffered with the same issues since I was a kid and have really abused the thin skin around my eyes trying to cover the blue and red circles and awful bags. Then, if I do feel satisfied that the circles are covered, I then look like a wrinkled mess. I have tried just about every product and tried every trick to prevent the makeup from settling in my fine lines.... NOTHING works! Ugh! You look great, btw!

Hello! I face the same issues. I found that excessively moisturizing that area really helps! Also, I use Retin-A but I used to put it under my eyes in hopes of renewing the skin but realized it was adding to the dryness so now I stopped putting it directly under my eyes and that has also helped soften them a little. Honestly there is not much else I can do or suggest - I'm trying to wait until I"m atelast 50 before I consider eye surgery. Hang in there and thank you for your kind words!

Great video! I’m 40 and have the exact same scenario. Genetic. Had my whole life. I can not set with powder and leave it or look so crapey. I do a similar routine to yours. Including setting with the tiniest powder. I use the Laura mercie powder. My green corrector is thin and hydrating. It’s the Erborian green cc correct. Then when finished, after powdering soooo lightly, I use a sponge with Mac fix plus and tap it in with a sponge over top. It melts it all together. Best routine I’ve found. I hope something in this comment helps! ❤

Hello beautiful! What do you think about lymphatic drainage massage? Around eyes it works enough good. Problems with not enough good drainage under eyes often accompanied with sinusitis or another inflammations. My friend has the same problems under eyes connected with chronic maxillary sinusitis. Sure surgery is the best solution. But massage helps as well!

Moisturize your eyes before putting on the powder. I think Nars or Mac has a powder specifically for dry skin. Perhaps a powder that contains oils since I find most powders also dry out my under eye area so I pack on the hyaluronic moisturiser before I apply makeup.

Thank you so much for your suggestions! I will definitely take a look at Nars and Mac. I moisturize alot but I think the formula of the corrector and concealer is very drying as well. Do you know of a moisturizing hydrating full coverage concealer I can try instead? Thanks so much.

@@MariaNicoleStyle Neutrogena hydro-boost concealer, Nars creamy concealer and the Maybelline age-rewind eraser concealer are three products I would recommend but look at Neutrogena since their hydro-boost concealer contains hyaluronic acid which is very hydrating and it appears that you would probably benefit from it the most. No problem and Good luck! 🍀

oh yeah I told you orange on your old video because you said purple and dark brown LOL but yes if you have like red more red and brown under your eyes I would have told you green for sure. I follow a bunch of you to make up gurus one of them uses a corrector all the time and that’s how I learned about it but yeah I mean maybe I should try green again but for me so far the middle like the medium color orange is working for me. Looks great! it looks great. I’m also now getting bags so now I have the bags if I could get those injections under my eyes I will one day ! did you ever get injections again in the last year?

  • @MariaNicoleStyle

Looking back at the video I was a little heavy on the green because a little goes a long way and this formula is very drying so be aware. I will try the orange corrector too because my dark circles are multicolored. I had gotten filler over two years ago so its all gone now and I would not get it again. My puffiness was mostly due to water rentention and poor drainage but I've started doing facial massage and drinking more water and it has improved the puffiness (not the color) dramatically! I don't worry so much about the color anymore because i can correct it with makeup but the puffiness always bothered me so much more and I'm telling you facial massage has changed my appearance of puffiness tremendously. Thank you for all your thoughtful comments!

I think that was waaay too much of the green product. It was very pigmented. I just ordered some of those silicone eye pads to wear overnight, i hear good things. Also i keep hearing less product is better... i know its hard because you feel like its not covering. I just started dealing with under eye problems in the last year. Its a struggle.

thank you for your feedback! Yes I definitely think I'm pretty heavy handed with it but the redness of my dark circles always shows through regardless. I will try those silicone pads - I need to find a better solution. On top of the darkness, I am experiencing a lot of crepy skin and it looks so aging - It is definitely a struggle! Thank you for watching..

Green cancels out red, not purple, if you have purple use yellow.. its basic colour theory. Also place concealer strategically using a tiny brush only in the darkerst lines / spots no all over the undereye area. and gentry blend the edges out using a very soft brush.

Good video. But concerning the color, under your eyes and the rest of your face, it does not blend. They are two different skin colors. It’s too white/green under your eyes unfortunately.
