Hi hello welcome back! Today we're talking about the word thank you. Is thank you a concept that exists in all languages? Are the norms around when you say thank you, to whom, and for what similar across different tongues? As you probably guess... not exactly! So today we'll be diving into those nuances, as well as how differences in expressions of gratitude can affect your relationships and friendships and how power distance plays into all this.

What about the head tilt in Indian culture? I've seen that at times body language can be a way people thank one another as well.

That’s a good point! The head tilt is definitely a versatile way of acknowledging someone’s actions in Indian culture. I would say it more often just means “okay,” but like I talk about in this video, often that acknowledgement is enough!
