Hi , Industrial Engineering has good placements in IITD and they go for direct admissions with GATE score cutoff of 800 and 8+ GPA. Jobs are around Operations and Management profiles, which are at par with Any other Managerial and project management or operations research sector

Hi Mukesh, there is "OR" between CGPA and percentage. So if any one of them is above cutoff you will be fine!

Hello Vishu, CGPA is always what is given to you on the degree. actually CGPA is a weighted average of SGPAs of all semesters. weighted average is weighted according to how many credits you completed in that semester.

Ask for transcripts or CGPA conversion, it should be above 6 for IIT admission, and should be above 6.5 for NIT m-tech admission

sir my cgpa is 6.6 , percentage is 55.5, and IIT KGP has the criteria that your cgpa should be more than 6.5 or percentage should be at least 60%,(CGPA will not be converted to percentage if the degree awarding Institute provides marks in CGPA system. My B.Tech % is 59.88 ( 2nd class ) from State government engineering college. Hi Eric, your GATE score is good, I dont think your CGPA would be a problem since CGPA cutoffs are mostly 6/10. You have good chances in top IITs and New IITs as well, may be you will have to be a bit flexible with branch. but in later rounds like 3rd or 4th you might get a good deal

I would suggest you to go for "interdisciplinary departments" In IITs or NITs. And also apply for MS. Usually MS has a little lesser cutoff

HI, Shashank, thanks for reaching out. You can apply for MS but chances are bleak, and you will have to do very well in interviews if at all you get a call. You can try for interdisciplinary departments at IITs for example CTARA at IITB (Technology and development) also go for new NITs and State level government colleges

Hi Sohan, thanks for your compliment! First of all Make sure you would really want to do M-Tech. alright if you want to, so there are Few courses in Each IIT which have less restrictions on CGPA. So do appear for GATE. I would say go for Universities like BITs, VIT, Central University Hyderabad. etc. focus on Private universities. They might relax CGPA expectations. Btw there is a provision where you can reapply for certain papers, and improve your CGPA. so ask about that in your university!

Hello, actually Degree grade point average and cumulative grade point average have same significance and their formulae to get the percentage are same. Dgpa can be deemed equivalent measure of cgpa too by these institutes.

No you won't be allowed as in our university there is a rule of making cgpa to percentage, i.e, my dgpa is 8.53 so it would be 8.53-0.75= 7.78*10= 77.8 percent!! So, it would cause you a problem in document verification!!

Hi @M3 group unfortunately i am not very active on other platforms. I think you will have no problem in securing admission. Since there are so many departments in so many IITS /NITS there would be some departments which will allow scores like you have with the percentage. So dont worry. And go through brochures.
