Cool experiment. I always like to find out what the limits of the 1:1 is and see how my scale rigs compares. If I meet or slightly exceeds 1:1 I’m happy.

That's really interesting! I just spent a fortune on brass stuff for my Gatekeeper, I still like to believe it was the right thing to do, it's a very top heavy rig... On my SCX24 it has definitely seemed to help with the brass. Thanks for taking the time to test it out!

I found that adding brass inside the wheels ( beef tubes or Chinese copies ) seems to have the best all round performance, in my heavier TRX4 scale rigs I use portal brass front and back and c hub carriers in brass up front , this rig will slide down on obstacles where some of my lighter Cheater rigs will stay planted , but when it comes to steep climbs the heavier rigs have a better advantage on certain loose or slippy surfaces , oh and run Yellow springs up front and white in the rear , hope that helps some TRX4 owners out there , great video Exo ✌🏻

Hi! Nice Test on the Bench... A small Batterie was the best tip... A very scale Body with "Driver/Seats/Toolbox, Rooftent, Mountainbike, Spare-Tires, Axe, Shovel a. s. o." is heavy, a light "Race-Body" can not be very scale, Portals are good for Mud, straight axles are good for side-hilling... a light car + Paddel-Tires are good for Dune- /Hill-Race AND : One car can not fit to(on?) every Trail (or Show?) ... I think... 😉 😎

The problem you're having is no tire sidewall support. Before Antifoams I would cut up old tire side walls and glue them on the inside of the sidewall of the tire then put in the foam. You still get a good grip and bite but the sidewall doesn't fold causing premature tipping. I would get a whole 3 to 4 degrees more incline hold on sidehilling with that mod. Now they have anti-foams which do the same thing I used to do years ago. They support the side wall without compromising grip and bite.

Really love this test! I'm wondering what tasteful mods I should do for my bronco too! I definitely want to keep it mild/mostly stock. Figured you would want to remove the fo winch Joe! Tucks in that front lip quite a bit, and traxxas did a great job allowing us to remove it with a few screws!

Yeah it will get a servo winch in there of some kind.

Interesting. Thanks for the experimentation Prof. Exocaged 😜 Have you checked out Korea RC’s shock mod of taking the oil out and the plastic o ring? His Axial SCX10 looks so scale bouncing around with that mod. Wonder if it’ll work on the TRX-4? He’s got a hard body on though so the weight up too probably helps

When I'm ready, I'll definitely be ordering a set of vitavon axles for my trx4 with the long arm kit on it. Plenty of weight down low as possible

Try removing chassis weight and or moving it lower before going for heavier axles.

Mojave is right. Taking weight off the top is more effective for performance. Now a heavier truck top and bottom will act and look more scale.

Put on some brass center diff covers and brass links. Those will help. Only things that will help will be items below the chassis and or below center line of the drive axles.

Those are higher than the portal covers. IMO those are better for climbing than sidehilling

Try a lower battery position Bow house RC makes a lcg battery mount and i find it made a big difference. based on my my finding in my trx4 Tactical.

Thats hard to believe. Ya all are having better luck than I. Then again I run mine in puddles of mud, wet grass, and snow.

You should have shown how much the brass helps with climbing instead, there it really shows results👍🏼😊

There are a ton of variables on that but I have shown it in the past.

Steel wheels are twice as heavy or more than the stock plastic TRX4 wheels. Add brass over that! Alot of weight I think I have GMADE steelies

To be fair you should test slippage on side hilling. With the extra weight does want to slip sideways before rolling over?

should compare portals to straight axles on that there invention

I would have liked it comparison of adding brass with a heavy battery versus trying a smaller battery lower in the battery tray

Now I wonder how brass knuckles would do? I no u r a shiny wheel guy but the black wheels look so much better.. just my opinion

I have some STRC black brass knuckles here somewhere.

My only gripe with portal brass covers is wheel clearance. With the stock plastic wheels, usually there's no problem...glue on and flush inner wheel. With aftermarket beadlocks, depending on the make and type of beadlock system, even with the stock portal covers, you have to install spacers just to have enough clearance so that the inner wheels don't rub. And as you clearly said, as soon as you widen the track, you start to have other issues... Question is, and since you are Vitavon retailer...and you also have a set of Varihub (TOR) wheels... Will they fit? Tks a lot! Cheers

I have the Ottsix wheels and they have a varihub design. To get that clearance you mentioned, they don’t help at all.

I wonder if you tried those injora weighted dual stage foams you tried before would that help with those wheels and tires

Possibly yeah. But it’s getting those prolines on it permanently.

Y not put the battery all the way up front on that plate above the front axle? (I would). Instead of the stock location.

For this test if it’s the same height it wouldn’t change anything. Now on climbs it would.

The trx4 is a very good trail rig a few guys run them here but some people don’t like brass is there other options?

Weight in the wheels. Is one way. You can get blackened brass too so it’s not noticeable.

you want to move scale get the super scale 2020 unit and get a different body

Wouldn’t your foams cause you to lose a little bit of a degree each time

Yeah foams can affect this. The main test was with stock foams the extra was just to see what happenes

But can it drive ant that angle 📐
