We aren’t obsessed it’s sadly their thing I doubt if the people who live there haven’t done at least one thing…especially wanting to have double eyelids because that’s what is beautiful there. @@famemosterrrrr almost half of those surgeries are done for non-koreans, they're famous for their cosmetic surgery procedure but that doesn't mean that the people are the biggest consumer. Of course they are, in a sense, but it's still not as many as you'd think. It's like male to female surgery is best done in thailand but that doesn't mean the majority of the males in thailand has done a male to female surgery. It's also true that most koreans couldn't care less about the beauty standard. It's like the US may have kim kardashian figure as their beauty standard and the rest of the world thought that american's are _that_ obsessed with it but as it turns out, when I visit the US, there are countless of pale white girls who doesn't tan with flat figures living their best life.

Doesn’t seem that way. Insanely talented artists are ignored while artists who just say random sh*t get millions or billions of views because they’re “pretty”, “hot” or “cute”. People definitely care about an artists look in the Western world. If they don’t like how they look it gets dragged across the internet just as Korea. People who fit the western beauty standards are more likely to get attention. Often for their visuals.

can yall stop with the “korean beauty standard”? First of all, the “beauty standard” yall talk about isnt even a big thing in korea. Growing up in korea Ive never heard my friends or adults say having big doe eyes, double eyelids or etc makes u pretty.. Those are just what some grandparents would tell you.. Second of all it just makes us seem like we dont consider people who dont fit the “standards”, which arent even relevent anymore, pretty enough. I just feel like these types of contents only promote false negativity that even celebrities of other races wont fit the standards in korea. But yes, female idols do wear hip pads from time to time, padding in clothing is normal in order to achieve the fashionable silhouette (been a thing for centuries). If you notice an idol's body shape changing drastically from photo to photo (and unrelated to weight gain), high chance it's due to padding.

Korean beauty standards are weird. I’m European and I fit all of them, but I doubt any Korean person would define me as the ideal. Edit: I seem to get a lot of comments where people seem to have misunderstood what I said or twisted my words. I personally fit those beauty standards. I never said anything about them being inspired by Europeans. Obviously they’re not. They’re from 2 different continents and are 2 different races. I personally find a list this specific to what the ideal look should be like weird or unrealistic. I feel like it puts a lot of pressure on young people and that the average person has almost no chance of fitting more than half of them without surgery. I’m just worried about the average teenager and how these standards will affect their mental health. I remember when I was a teenager and I felt ugly because I didn’t fit the standards set in my country. I didn’t have big breasts or a big butt, I wasn’t tan and I wasn’t tall. Anyway what I’m trying to say is I don’t know how serious the average person takes these standards, but if they do I worry for their health and their money.
