Awesome build. Thanks for sharing all your experience. I've been driving Fox bodies steady since the mid 90s (though only mildly modding) and I learn a lot from your vids.
Really enjoy watching how well this build turned out. You can tell on camera that cam is definitely hitting harder up top. Good stuff man. 👏

yessir, back before OEM roller cams and lockup torque converters, a "looser" torque converter would crutch a rowdy cam (so would variable duration lifters if you went with a "juice cam", but now apparenlty hydraulic roller lifters can be ordered up as variable duration as well). Just made sure you had an auxillary trans cooler as a higher stall speed could heat things up a little bit. to me, using a looser TC is like rolling around back roads in 5th gear on a stick shift...you can still do 40 mph on a level surface, but you aren't going to have the sudden response you would if the you were in 4th gear. a torque converter is like two desk fans sitting on a table top facing each other. switch one on, and it starts throwing air (or in the case of the TC, ATF) into the face of the other and after a period of time, the second fan starts moving its blades in response without turning on the electricity. If you use a big floor fan, there's more surface area, so it starts turning sooner (just like an OEM unit tends to be 11 or 12 inches in diameter) and both fans reach a common speed sooner. A small fan (just like a 9" racing TC) will take longer to get the second one spinning at the same rate of speed, hence it can have a higher RPM of stall speed. but it will get the second fan to turn a little bit before it reaches that matched speed.

I'm jealous over all the fox body's you guys have I bought a sn95 94gt un molested one owner bone stock old lady owned it gonna go-ahead an do top end on it so far hpipe 373 gear 2 chamber flows shorty shift I really di not know what cam an stuff to go with but I believe you sold me on the Anderson cams like how they can just tell you what all you need to make it all work out thanks for the videos it's taught me alot

My88 has big cam in it too , but it don't run like that. Plus mine is not boosted in any way. does have the AOD with the original torque converter. Sometime it surges and stalls ,especially when shifting from drive to revers or the other was. It suck, The power band don't start till about 3000rpm. You got a nice car .

Nice! Looks like it hauls the mail. Personally with your old pony there I think a built efi 5.0 would be cool, there's no shortage of carbed 60s mustangs but not a ton of 86-95 HO set ups in them. I love resto mods Any of the efi manifolds would be cool but imo The coolest would be to use the 5.0 style side inlet Holley high ram with nasty n/a power with a real choppy cam. They are killer for boost too. I've had a boner for that intake with the side inlet top ever since I laid eyes on it, and they make a nice broad Tq curve apparently.
I think Donnie hit it right on the head with that cam for that car!! And Papa T’s dog looks awesome ! And dang sure some sticky to those tires

Plenty of boost to make that aod perform well
Aod shuffle will wake it up drastically
Late to the party - What heads were used with this, or block modifications? I'm putting plans together for a stock block build, trying to determine if this cam would work with TW 11R 190cc heads that have the 2.055in intake valves. Anderson has confirmed they work with the 170s, just not sure on the 190s. I'll email them to see if they know, thought I'd ask here too. Thanks for all the helpful content Brew2l! Edit: Sorry I was early into the video, I realize now that block is probably far from stock.

What brand tires do you run on it?
The Moates website updated/ went off line yesterday 11/23/22 with a farewell message. The entire fox community lost a piece of its heritage. It would be worth an in depth discussion and maybe even a phone interview to cap this point of fox history for others to look back on.

With a good shifter setup and the driver mod missed shifts are very rare anyways.
Imagine if you had a tighter overlap and a higher LSA, that cam would hit harder! Being an N/A cam, you're losing some boost out the exhaust valves, but it's still more aggressive than the N412 so it kind of makes up for it. I was honestly thinking that you'd go for the B41, but those have been hard to get lately.
Nice car. What octane fuel are you using with that amount of boost?

Shift into 2nd gear then pulling it back down to 1st until it’s ready to shift to 3rd then bump it into 2nd again.

What size stall do you have? I have an aod and fixing to put a tfs state 1 in, and I was worried about the driveability. I'm ordering a stall after the holidays
