Sadly, that could be said of the Fox network, too. _Many_ a good show aired on Fox, which got the axe, all because of poorly accumulated viewer metrics (curse you, Neilson Ratings!) that I don't feel ever properly conveyed actual viewer numbers. I guess that's one other positive to the streaming era... cold, hard, indisputable numbers. So let there NEVER be another _Firefly_ type situation, *ever* again! [/micro-rant] 😅

@@iankellymorris That's been the issue ever since the dawn of TV shows. There's a reason a site called Renewed or a Canceled was started! _(doesn't seem to be around anymore, but there are still plenty of copies that are up in its place, on IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, etc)_ But I agree, it sucks to love a show, then realize "man, it's been awhile, where's the next season?!"... only for panic to set in as you *_then_* realize "awww shit, it's been canceled, huh? 😟" I really wish an unwritten law amongst studios could be established (or better yet, a written one lol) where shows to be axed, are assured adequate time to either: find new financial backers/new studio/etc in order to continue the show - like _The Expanse_ with getting un-canceled by Amazon picking it up _(and now apparently canceled again?)_ - OR given a season to properly wind the show down and let them write a suitable end. Unlike Stargate Universe (or Atlantis before it) where it basically happened in 1 episode so since it was sudden and rushed. But now I'm living up to my name, so... 🤐 😅

Heath Ledger was so universally loved by everyone he worked with, you can see Alan getting choked up even so long after his death.

Firefly changed my life too, Alan. A far better thing to have Firefly for but a season, than to never have had it at all.

Phenomenal actor, physical and voice. Ridiculously underrated, and he deserves so much recognition!

In addition to that a lot of those voices are so different from each other, they don't even sound like him most of the time. Unless I know that it's him doing a characters voice beforehand I usually don't even realize it was him until I'm watching the credits.

Alan Tudyk was phenomenal in A Knight's Tale. When I saw him in Firefly I was quite impressed at how good his American accent was, and was shocked when I learned the truth. "...pain, lots of pain" is still one of my favourite delivered lines.

​@@pampire13 I think it is because for most historical films any anachronisms are essentially because of the laziness of the filmmakers. On the DVD the Director in the commentary made the point that the anachronisms in A Knight's Tale actually serve an artistic purpose. The best example is the banquet scene where they are learning the dance. Medieval music to our modern ears sounds somewhat simple and, for lack of a better term, sedate. To medieval ears that music was "modern music". So the dance scene starts with pure medieval music and over the course of the dance David Bowie is slowly mixed in to the music. By the end of the scene they are dancing to David Bowie at full levels.

Did you watch powerless? It was a short lived TV series starring tudyk as Bruce Wayne's cousin who worked for Wayne enterprises as a subsidiary company that designed equipment for everyday citizens to deal with the destruction left in the wake of superhero battles, like a joker antitoxin or a rubble umbrella which stops rubble from crushing you. It was a funny show. Ron Funches was in it, too.

Alan is still one of my favorite people and actors. His reverence when talking on Firefly hits home so hard

Even if Alan Tudyk were LITERALLY cast as every role in every single thing encompassed within the business of show in perpetuity going forward from now, I would still think Hollywood could be making better use of this man's talent.

His voiceover for King Candy completely threw me when I first saw Wreck-it Ralph. It was such a spot on version of Ed Wynn and when I found out it was Alan, it blew me away. Such an amazing actor and so glad that people are starting to see him!

The opening scene from Firefly, where he's playing with plastic dinosaurs... that is the scene that put him on my radar and led to him becoming one of my favorite comedic actors ever. I'm glad it had a positive effect on his life, because he earned it with that role.

Technically that's not the opening scene. It's the scene that really kicks it off but there was that whole background battle scene (that I found confusing af coming into it blind from Angel and Buffy)

He's so talented and versatile. The amount of things I've loved him in and not even realized it was him.

It's great to know the creators appreciate him enough to let him ablib like that. I was so happy when I heard him discussing this series (while it was still in production he did a talk with Fillion). I remember thinking how relieved I was that hopefully he was starting to be valued for how great he is

Will not spoil it for those who haven't watched Serenity, but I saw no point in what happened after that line. Saw no point to the story at all. (you have to watch if you are curious and do not assume based on my ambiguous comment what the next scene was, you might just be wrong)

I hope that the teacher that convinced him to stay in acting knows just how much of an impact they had. Alan Tudyk is one of, if not the, most talented actors I know. Who else can go from voicing a chicken to voicing the Joker and have it sound completely different? Most actors use their voice as a kind of calling card, kind of like Keith David, or David Spade. You may not be a main character in movies, but you’re a main character in our hearts, Alan. I hope your friend who wanted to dance was able to find happiness, too

Missing Mr Nobody and Suburgatory (honourable mention I suppose) and so many others. You forget how Hank Azaria he is though. " I was in every one since" and "Yh, I did two lines each for 10 characters and got 3 of them". Meanwhile 5 of the 7 left are the names attached to get butts in seats and the other two are x's sister, the one who can sing and/or that voice everyone knows but can't name. Underrated and prolific. International treasure.

He was amazing in Firefly. That show is a masterpiece.

One of the most underrated and most versatile actors in the business, in my opinion.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who got emotional right along with him about that photo, was I? That movie was what made me a fan of Alan's and I've been watching his stuff since. He's such an underrated, extremely talented actor/comedian. Watching this made me realize I didn't know about half his roles in things I've seen (voice acting stuff.) Dodgeball, along with Tucker and Dale vs Evil were just the icing on the cake when it comes to solidifying my appreciation for this man. I'm sad they weren't included in this.

I never realized that Alan did so many voice overs. No mater what I have seen him in, I have thoroughly enjoyed every role. No mater how good (or bad) the show/movie was, he has made at least his part of it better. The list of actors that you can say that about is extremely small. Alan truly does not get the industry recognition that he deserves.

What amusing anecdotes! I love it when actors tell us stories we'd never hear anywhere else.

The impromptu line about SyFy being a front for crystal meth was HILARIOUS. 🤣🤣🤣

I have really enjoyed many of your voice characters without knowing your name, Alan Tudyk. Thanks.

For whatever reason it always scrambles my brain that he was Sonny. I think maybe because I wasn't fully aware of who Alan was when first watching that movie. And he does Ed Wynn SO well, that's exactly who I thought of when I first heard King Candy speak.

I love him so much. My car is named Hoban after his character Wash in Firefly. I have a t-shirt with the other famous quote "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal." Alan, never change! So glad your teacher and your friend convinced you to stick with acting.

I have the sticker on my computer. It was one of the best character intros I've ever seen, a guy playing with plastic dinos while sitting at the controls of a spaceship? Yep, this is a character I'll like.

How is this man the absolute best part of everything he’s ever been in? Such an underrated talent. Resident Alien is excellent, because of him. I don’t think anyone else could pull off that role as well as he does and I hope it continues. Also, he was excellent in Con Man. Give him all of the leads! Comedy? Drama? It doesn’t matter. He can do it all.

This video needs ALL THE LIKES..... just like Alan. My lord, he's my favorite actor. Such a wholesome person too... man, I'd love to have him as a friend. Thank you Alan, for all of the wonderful memories, and making me smile!

He seems like such a genuine person. So glad to exist at the same time as him.

So many of his characters sound so similar but incredibly different at the same time. He really does an awesome job with all his roles

The fact that he has made so much great content that even he can't remember it... Testimony to the incredible outpouring of creativity coming from this modern day Mel Blanc.

I knew a few of these voice overs were him, but some of them surprised me. The man's got range! I have a pretty good ear for recognizing voice over actors, but he is a chameleon.

Alan Tudyk deserves to be a household name, better than a lot of A-List celebrities! One of my favorite actors after stumbling into Serenity back in the day

Hehe. Alan is a treasure. I love how versatile he is but also how much fun he has with coming up with the voices.

It is Always amazing seeing great voice actors do their thing.

I love him, he just makes me happy. Some of these I didn't realize he had voiced and now I love him more. I wish they had Simon from Death at a Funeral, Alpha from Dollhouse, Tucker form Dale & Tucker vs. Evil and Mr. Nobody from Doom Patrol

The fact that I am just now learning Alan voiced so many characters is amazing. Such a talented man.

I just love the depth of anecdotes this format creates. I love this man, I love his career, and it make sense that even his most iconic of roles would benefit from a reminder to net the best stories, that's just how time works. I'll watch all of these, I love it.

Alan is so good! It's a shame Variety didn't include any quotes from Death At A Funeral, Tucker & Dale Vs Evil, 28 Days.

I had no idea he did half of these voice over roles, so cool! Knight’s Tale will forever be one of my favs and I was so shocked he wasn’t actually British!

I love Alan Tudyk. He's such a great actor and there are so many roles that were showcased here, but I can't wait to see more of him.

The greatest line he has ever said is "officer, we've had a doozy of a day. There we were minding our own business, just doing chores around the house, when kids started killing themselves all over my property."

"I'm a leaf on the wind...watch how I soar" *cue epic David Newman score* *Debris slams into Serenity* "It's ok...I'm a leaf on the wind..."
